Hi all,

I'm looking for an external hard drive that doesn't use any additional power supply and connect via USB 2.0 port. It has to have at least 60GB. So far the only one that fits these rules are the Western Digital Passport series. Has anyone had any experienced with that product or do you have any other suggestion?

Thank ye!!

Got the 80GB version today @ CC for $130ish AR. Only 70GBish is available which is understandable and expected. File transfer is fast to me. The build quality is very decent and best of all, it doesn't require external power supply. USB port has enough juice to run this thing.

How fast is it?

I was under the impression that a 5400 or 7200 rpm drive would need more than the 5V supplied on the USB2 bus.

2.5" notebook drives can run with the power supplied by most USB 2.0 ports.
I don't think any 3.5" drives can.

5400 RPM and you don't need no additional power supply. I'm loving it. :)

I had a problem syncing(sp?) large transfers between a 5400 RPM drive and a 7200 RPM drive with USB, but it may have been another problem.
