The Chrysler Crossfire was conceived as a brand image maker.

Now the sports car is being touted on Overstock.com amid offerings for bedsheets and patio sets.

Shoppers at Overstock.com, an online outlet shopping site, are being offered discount coupons for the Crossfire coupe and roadster.

"2005 Chrysler Crossfire Special offer - up to $8,900 off MSRP," the site says. Coupons must be redeemed at a dealership. The deal expires Jan. 3.

Crossfires sat on dealership lots 230 days before selling in November, according to the Power Information Network. The industry average in November was 55 days.

What market does the Crossfire appeal to? I could never figure this out. Besides, they are ugly.

A year or so ago they had a sweepstakes giving one away...it was advertised in various business magazines...so I assumed they were aiming at the business person who couldn't afford the two-seater Mercedes.

The regular models are underpowered. The only one worth looking at is the SRT version.

I was just driving behind one today and said to myself it be a nice car if they redesigned the back. I hate how it has the body lines are coming down from the rear window to where the license plate is and how the license plate is recessed in. a gutsy v6 stock or super charged v8 be a nice touch. but by the time they make a production version of this car that will sell, they will pull it out of production-so typical for american autos!
