Does Slingbox clog the upload path on cable?

I've been wondering.....most cable systems are designed to have a wider download bandwidth than upload since the majority of usage is downloading things.

However, with the Slingbox now out it would seem to me that if just a few people were using their Slingbox in one area of a neighborhood, there would be a lot of continuous uploading while the TV programs were going from a person's home out on the internet, thus clogging up the cable system for everyone in the area.

Am I missing something?

Yes, I understand, but I am on RoadRunner, where all of my internet traffic is via cable.

The advocates of DSL tell people that one of their advantages over cable for internet access is that with cable if a lot of heavy users are one leg of the cable system they can cause it to slow down. So, I wondered if the Slinbox traffic could cause that since it would be transmitting a large amount of data for hours.

totally depends on your neighbors. I don't think it'll make a noticable difference with having once slingbox in one neighborhood. and I've used my line as a ftp server and had no complaints (though i think very few are using cable). anyways, there is still a cap on your individual connection. the total cable bandwidth is a lot more than what you're getting to your house. i wouldn't worry about it.
