An institution that helped save both a sport and a TV network came to an end tonight with the final ABC Monday Night Football game. Thanks for the memories! Final game score tonight, Giants 31, Jets 21. After 36 years it is moving to ABCs affiliate ESPN.

And to celebrate, the Giants must have dressed up in the Patriots uniforms. How festive!

If by moving to ESPN, they get rid of that stupid "I love it, I want some more of it" stupid halftime psuedo-highlights, I am all for it.
I will even put up with Theisman for 3 hours over that song.

I used to love ESPN. Now I really don't like it that much. Seems like everytime I watch, they're either showing the same crap (poker...I'm sick of it now) or the sportscasters are the same bunch that they (apparently) always have on. Oh how I long to see Stuart Scott again. Plus they've lost a couple over the years (Kenny Mayne, Rich Eisen especially)...and the overkill on the frickin' poker...bleh. :puke: I think I'm done with Berman too...there's only so many 'Bermanisms' that one man can take before he's heard them all and/or they become repetive and redundant.
I wonder if they're going to pick up Madden (as rumored) to cover the Monday Night games...? Or...was it Madden going to NBC for the Sunday night games...or something? I dunno anymore. I'm out of the 'sports' loop.
So how soon does Spring Training start eh?
You know, since hockey sucks now.

Madden is going elsewhere. Right now it's Theisman joining Al in the booth for ESPN's MNF.

Didn't know that... that's going to suck. Madden was the much better broadcaster of the two.

Nah...Madden gets a little annoying sometimes, although i do like him. Al Michaels, though, is an excellent play by play caller.
I don't like this idea of just Theisman and Al in the booth. Although I like ESPN's Sunday Night Football cast (i know many don't), Joe Theisman doesn't have the ability to handle the booth by himself. But I guess ESPN doesn't really care.

Glad that ABC didn't bring back OJ Simpson!

An interesting tidit- the Jets played in the first and the last Monday Night Game and the final score was the exact same in both games.

Madden is way over the hill at this point...although he used to be one of the best color guys.
Michaels is awesome, though. He's a pro. I can't bear the thought of him being teamed with Theisman and his relentless ridiculous compliments ("You know, say what you will about Rae Carruth, but- stabbing of pregnant women aside- he's really a heck of a guy!")

Theisman is an idiot. In fact, all the game commentators on ESPN are idiots.
Al, Dan, Frank were, hands down, the best combo.
