THE WHO'S NEW CD "ENDLESS WIRE"

Nearly a quarter-century (and bassist John Entwistle) passed between what had been considered the Who's career-capping album, It's Hard, and this 19-song epic, which at its best has the band of two pining for the days of Who's Next. Built from the triumph of the mini-opera Wire & Glass EP (included here in its entirety), Endless Wire mixes metaphors of music, war, and religion, while showcasing Roger Daltrey's ageless vocal cords and Pete Townshend at his windmilling best. Launching with a "Baba O'Riley"-like synth break in "Fragments," Daltrey asks "Are we breathing out or breathing in?" and Townshend answers with a thrashing, crashing Gibson. When the volume is turned up, there are echoes of three decades ago. "It's Not Enough" and "Mike Post Theme" conjure images of Entwistle and Keith Moon--the latter song, with its quiet verse and thunderous chorus, recalls "Going Mobile" and longs for Moon to whack it into shape. But the linchpin remains Townshend's songwriting, whether he's questioning faith ("Man in a Purple Dress"), showing gratitude for support ("You Stand By Me"), or dreaming of entertaining immortals into eternity ("Out on an Endless Wire"). By the time it wraps up, Endless Wire tells two things. No, it does not rank with the band's best work. But yes, as long as Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey walk the earth in tandem, the Who live on.

Age Requirement: 18 years of age or older

To Participate: You must meet all of the eligibility requirements outlined in this rule sheet. JACK FM will announce a randomly selected birthday month, live on the air each weekday (Monday through Friday) at 7:00am during the promotional dates outlined. Listeners participate by calling 570-1007

Prize Giveaway: CASH on the following levels/terms:
$500: In the event that the 25th caller’s (“Contestant”) birthday month matches the random winning birthday month announced on the air immediately prior, the contestant will be eligible to win $500.

$10,000: The contestant will then choose to either a) keep the $500 and forego any attempts at further prize award(s), or b) decline the $500 prize award in exchange for a chance to win $10,000 when a JACK FM representative spins the Birthday Wheel.*

In the event that the spin comes to a complete stop on the number matching the day of the month on which Contestant was born, the contestant will be eligible to win $10,000. If the wheel does not come to a complete stop on the day of the month of the contestant’s birth date, this will conclude the Contestant’s attempt and he/she will not be eligible for any prize or any further attempts at winning a prize.

* The total number of slots on the Birthday wheel shall be: Thirty-one (31). Each slot shall have a unique number from the range one to thirty-one, inclusive (1-31). Once spun, the wheel must complete no fewer than four (4) complete revolutions without the interference from any person or object in order to be considered a valid spin eligible for a potential prize award. If the wheel fails to complete at least four complete revolutions, then the wheel must be spun again. In the event that a contestant’s birthday month contains fewer than 31 days (i.e. February, April, June, September, or November) and the wheel lands on a date that does not exist (i.e. February 30 or April 31), another spin will be granted. Except as specifically set forth above, each contestant will be allotted one spin per phone call.

$1,000,000: The Contestant will then choose to either: a) keep the $10,000 and forego any attempts at further prize award(s); or b) decline the $10,000 prize award in exchange for an attempt to open one (1) of the forty-eight (48) sealed security envelope for a chance to win $1,000,000.*

* Each of the sealed security envelopes will be identified by a unique serial number (i.e. ##’s 1 – 48). Each envelope will contain a unique number ranging from 1941 to 1988, inclusive. The contestant will be asked to pick a number between 1 and 48, inclusive. If the corresponding security envelope is the security envelope containing the number of the year he/she was born, the contestant will win $1,000,000.**

** Prize amount to be paid in 40 equal annual installments of $25,000 each without interest.


Other Rules:
1) Contestants must be 18 years of age or older, a resident of San Diego County and possess a valid California Drivers License (military is exempt from the California License requirement, however, they must possess a valid driver’s license.) Proof of eligibility is required.

2) Contest is open to all San Diego County residents except a) Full and part-time employees, agents, successors, and assignees of KFMB Stations, its advertising agencies and promotional companies involved in this Promotion, as well as family and household members of same; b) persons who have been employed by the KFMB Stations within 60 days preceding the date that the contest was conducted; c) employees of any AM, FM or TV broadcast stations serving the San Diego area; or d) persons who have already participated in the Contest

3) Prize will be confirmed upon proof of Winner’s eligibility. Authentic identification clearly showing the winner’s photo, name, residence address, and full birth date is required to claim any prize.

4) Winner will be called and informed when prize check is ready for pick up. Winner must provide his\her Social Security number, the name assigned on Social Security card for tax purposes, and one form of photo identification and a second form of identification. With the exception of the $1,000,000 prize, any prize not claimed within 30 days of the date the winner is notified that the check is ready for pick up, will be forfeited and become property of KFMB; no alternate winner will be selected.

5) JACK FM reserves the right to publicize and/or broadcast participants/winner’s name, character likeness, voice, and any other matter incidental there of upon entering/winning for promotional purposes without further compensation to the Promotion winner(s) or participants.

6) Except as otherwise stated herein, winners are responsible for any applicable federal, state, and/or local taxes resulting from the winning of any prize in connection with the contest and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prize(s) to the extent required by law.

7) By participating in this contest and/or accepting any prize in this contest, the contestants agree to release 100.7 JACK FM Radio, Midwest Television, and any additional sponsor(s) from any and all liabilities associated with the contest and/or grand prize.

8) JACK FM assumes no responsibility for any busy signal or inability of a contestant to call to participate in the contest, or for any malfunction of any equipment whatsoever, including telephone equipment. Please dial carefully.

9) The total maximum number of attempts to open the security envelopes shall not exceed ten. KFMB/ 100.7 JACK FM reserves the right to discontinue extend or alter these rules at any time.

I had problems going in the normal way, but all last week was able to get to them by clicking on the auctions, then going to the main page, then back to profile.

Just now instead I clicked on profile and look what came up...makes no sense to me:
