I had better luck when people didn't know the times. I have tons of points and no way of using them. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Last Comic Standing show but that's because no one else must have wanted them since they were up for over 1/2 hour. I know there was more than one set but that seems rare. I want to go back to not knowing the prize times!

Yes-that is true----but you have to check the "spend points page" about every 10min or so to see if its up.
It would just be nice if they had 5 or 6 tickets to give away-instead of waiting ALL week for ONE stinking ticket (unless, of course, its a lesser program (like movie tickets, etc) instead of, say Queen tickets or concerts like that.

I gave up on ClearChannel because they made it too painful to get points for some measly prizes (although I know some would disagree.) But even worse, they don't give the best prizes to the points programs but still make you call in for them...how annoying can they be?

Jack (and formerly Star) always made it difficult to get the prizes. I've looked at auctions and other things, but those are a pain too (I wish they were more like KYXY where they don't just suddenly close but get extended when someone places a last-second bid.) And Channel 8 suffers the same problems but the times are never posted anywhere that I know of so I almost never get anything from them. At least with Jack I have a *shot* at getting things.

Oddly enough, Couch Potato is still the one I feel most comfortable with because there seem to be enough prizes and predictable (yet unknown) times. Too bad they don't offer more valuable prizes.

I'm almost ready to give up on ALL of these prize programs after the year ends.

This may be true-but several times I've tried to "win" prizes and have timed them properly-like Queen tix, and have actually got the screen that said buy, and "are you sure" and have clicked both-and get 'error' or sorry-sold out!!!
As dogopoly says-Clear Channel makes it difficult to enter for the points, but you have several opportunities to "buy" things:several entries for concert tix, plays, musicals, etc.-heck-you can even get MONEY from clear channel (as well as Dizzyland, etc)
Fox is OK-but mainly for dvds and movie tix., ---Still -I think JACK is JACKED UP

(Just half a min before the prize goes up, you can see the page loads up very slowly). So, no chance, for slower connections.

I've been lucky enough to win a couple of prizes in the last 6 months. Both times the transaction was dated 7 seconds after the prize was made available. It's a matter of having a high speed connection, knowing EXACTLY what time it is and refreshing constantly. THEN, if you get the prize available screen, you need to be very fast clicking in and then submitting (2 clicks)to finish the transaction. If you have a dialup, as I do at home, you literally have no chance to grab a decent prize. Good luck to you all.

Sorry to hear that you decided to give up on Clear Channel. In my opinion, Clear Channel is the clear winner as to the number of prizes they are giving away. However, I doubt it will stay this way next year considering Clear Channel is being sold to a private equity firm. Hmmm, I wonder if all those prizes has anything to do with trying to sell the company?

I read the posts on the Jack forum. I never post myself, (someone always beats me to it as they do here), however everyone knows that the forum is open for all members and non members to read. All prize times copied and pasted here have always given credit where due. Any person could have just gone to the Jack forum and gotten the times there without reading here. It appears that another Jack forum poster was the one who "spilled the beans" and increased miss thea's competition. I do believe it is a bit harsh to call all these people lurkers as I am sure you, as well, do not subscribe to the service that miss thea does. The crazy thing is I signed up for the text messages, agreed to pay for them, but never get them. I have tried to re-sign-up a few times, and each time it tells me I am signed up...but I never receive the text messages.

I have similar problems with other radio stations. I get some text messages off an on, but nothing consistent.

I used to get the KFMB 760 ones, but they too have stopped coming.

I signed up for the 91X ones and they keep telling me I am already signed up...but have yet to receive one text message from them.

She is kind enough to pay for the service and always posts the times on Jack's forum (you know - the ones that get cut and pasted here)and the one time she really wanted something without having to compete with all you lurkers, she didn't post this particular prize and someone else came along and posted the time and she apparently missed out.

If she didn't post most of you probably wouldn't even get a prize.

Go to Jack's forum and read what happened.

I agree, but anyone could have posted the times and they would have shown up here. It's just sad that the most generous people like Thea (and I've met her--she's terrific) are often not rewarded for their generosity.

I suggest that anyone who get prizes because of Thea at least go to the Jack board and PM a thank you to her. You'll probably find her to be very accomodating and glad that she was able to help. You might even find a new friend like I did! :)

Just so everyone is clear, I also subscribe to the JACK prize notifications and I post whenever I have time...or when I see an error in someone elses post...which is not often. I feel bad that Thea2u did not get any tickets (since I know her). Had I known that she really wanted the tickets, I probably would have refrained from posting. Like everyone on this forum, I've also experienced not winning a prize that I really wanted...but that's life. And I'm sure she understands since that's what kind of person she is...kind-hearted.

If there is something you would like, I would recommend the following options:

1. Not posting any prize notifications for that day. But that doesn't guarantee that someone else will not post the Shopping times.

2. If there is something that you really want, include it in your post. I'm sure there's several people on this forum and JACK's forum that would use their points to try get you a prize you want...or at least trade for it. Also keep in mind that JACK is not the only station giving away Disneyland tickets. Hope you win some tickets! :wavey2:

I understand about quiting I have quit Couch, but this week for Jack when the Styx tickets came up they said "expired" I did a double take thats what it said "expired" so I refreshed and they were available to buy they must of had multi sets because it was up for 20 - 30 minutes after it opened.

I have decided not to get upset when I don't win I still enjoy KGB, there auction reminds me of ebay and it can be fun and I still win there. And as long as Jack let the points roll over I will stay with them, but for Couch its not enough points or prized anymore and it seems the same people win or people who don't live in the area win. That's not fair to those people who haven't had a chance to spend their points all year. I get several small prizes each year, but for those who miss out on the prize releases, they should be able to save up those points and use 400,000 on a single auction, if that's what they want to do.

I decided to scroll up and read (what a concept :gle: ) other posts.

There have been times I have wanted a prize and still posted it. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't but I think yesterday when the time got posted, I was caught off guard and I felt like that kid getting caught with his hand in the candy jar and pretty much went "postal" in my post. I know others do subscribe to the text message and I know someone else can come along and post the times just as easily as I do. I think it's become natural for people to expect me to post.

Yesterday's incident doesn't change the way I feel about posting the prize times. I will still continue to do it because there have been many many times these forums have saved me when I missed an update or a chance to get an extra 500 points.

Life is good but unfortunately not for those people in La Jolla and their giant sinkhole.

Yeah, I would actually prefer if they didn't release the times that prizes are to be released... right now, an elite group of people who pay for the textmessages (some who then post it to the forums though) get to know when the prizes are released. If the prizes were just released randomly, then everyone would have a fairer chance I think rather than just those with quick internet connections or quick fingers...

Hey Bob, I do agree that it is getting harder to get prizes but I do know that they sometimes offer multi sets of prizes, I just went to Air Supply and Styx and we won a Dexter DVD set all in the last 2 weeks and they had more than 1 set of tickets. I am gratful to those who share the times but, I do wonder who receives the $.99 that people pay to receive those advanced notices.

The Term "SOLD" I dont' think would be the correct word for it.
They are sent via TEXT (Cell Phone) when you sign up to receive it. From my experience, even if you sign up to receive the release time thru "Texting" it does not mean that you will get them and Don't ask me why <<< ask the Radio station (JACK). And Yes it does cost money for texting, but just clarifying that there is no place where you send a monthly check/payment to receive PRIZE RELEASE TIME".


This is by no means disrespecting anyone nor showing no appreciation for people who post the "Prize Release times".
Just wanted to put facts out there and to make sure that people are not misinformed.

I just noticed that they changed the title of the 'get a free shaver' to "A $50 TARGET GIFT CARD YOU CAN USE TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF A PANASONIC VORTEX NANO ELECTRIC SHAVER" - must have gotten some complaints that the former title was misleading...

Also noticed that 'run of engagement' tickets to Tim Burton's Xmas movie have been added. Can anyone explain to me what 'run of engagement' means specifically? It says it's opening on Oct22 for only 3 weeks, but that seems a bit odd to me considering that it's a Xmas movie - I would have thought they'd run it through to December instead...

It's not really a Christmas movie. It's the "Nightmare Before Christmas", and anyone who's ever seen it would probably agree that it's somewhat of a Halloween movie. :) So, this timeframe works. The tickets are good as long as the movie's running. I totally recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet seen it!
