I am back from my parent's place and I brought my shotguns down so I can get them (and myself) ready for a pheasant hunting trip coming up in a couple of months. I was checking out my Remington 870 12Ga and the firing pin isn't working. I could fix this myself, but I'd rather have a gunsmith look at this to be sure since I won't be the person using this weapon. Does anyone know a good gunsmith here in So. Cal? Preferably the South Bay/Long Beach area?

Look up Mike's gunsmith in Long Beach, and a little further south in North OC where I'm at, Bolsa gunsmith is good. Wait a bit and I'll get you contact info.

Edit:
(562) 984-2529 for Mike's
http://www.bolsagunsmithing.com/index.html for Bolsa

Mathews Gun Shop & Gunsmithing in Downey does good work. It's near I-5 between the I-710 and the I-605.
7102 Rio Flora Pl, Downey, CA 90241 Phone: (562) 928-2129

It's not LB/South Bay, but it's fairly freeway close. Hope it helps.

Any update on the matter?

A firing pin is fairly easy to do and honestly, if you're comfortable doing it yourself, I say why not? Unless you need to get someone to give the shotgun a once over to make sure everything's in good working order, is there a need?

I just wanted to be sure, especially since this gun has not been fired in about 7 years (I usually shoot my Dad's Remington Model 31 or my special Remington 11-87). It is in excellent shape though. Thanks for the referrals - I will be checking out Mike's in Long Beach this weekend.
