when is the backlog on 60gig video ipod supposed to end?

i have GCs for sharper image that i was hoping to use for a 60 gig video ipod but their site now says it's not available.

is this a short-term shortage or will it be spring before the stores have more of them in stock?

I bought one at Best Buy on December 26th, so they are available. Maybe it's just a sharper image thing.

They always have a ton of them at the Apple Store in Charlotte.

Most of the retailers have problems getting stock from Apple regarding the popular models (Nano, etc.). But the Apple stores always have plenty.

Ya... I ordered mine direct from Apple and they drop shipped it Next Day Air from Shanghai or someplace in China.

Yeah, got mine from the Apple store last week and my friend just picked one up at Circuit City a couple of days ago... so they are out there.

crap. just called sharper image because the units disappeared from their site. it looks like they are going to quit selling them because apple had such crappy delivery that they never knew when they were going to have them and when they weren't.

so now i have $400 in sharper image gift certificates and nothing to do with them. sigh....

used to GCs to buy a set of bose headphones and sold them on ebay. just shipped them to the buyer. guess how much shipping and tax was....$54!!!!! wtf? that's for UPS ground. and what's the freakin' tax rate in NYC????

i bought one at best buy but took it back. too big to run with and the battery doesn't last long when playing a video. BUT....it was very cool and the video was amazingly sharp.

How long did you need the video to play? I tested mine once and got about 3 hours 20 minutes. Of course, since I use it at the gym, about 1.5 hours is plenty for me.
