iRiver's G10

Just in time for CES, iRiver has announced the G10, a sort of gaming media player that could combat the PSP some day. The G10 runs Windows Mobile 5.0, has 3D graphics processing, and a beautiful 262k color screen, so why the hell shouldn’t it play games? It could be offered by Wibro as well. Of course it will be able to play videos and music and will come in both 4GB and 8GB models. No word yet on other features or release dates that are expected, but come CES, all the deets on this promising handheld should be unveiled. What do you think? What does the G10 need to make it on par with the PSP?

Looks amazing with the internal memory. If it has some good games, it will be a PSP killer

Never used a PSP, but that control-pad thingy doesn't look comfortable.

Companies to make games for it. Gonna be hard for any device to wrestle business away from the Nintendo/Sony duopoly. Microsoft managed it in the console market, but they have nearly infinite resources and a lot more muscle than iRiver.

:agree:
Sony has Square Enix...that helps them a lot. Nintendo has every other developer out there (just about) plus their franchises, which is why Nintendo is on top. (I'm talking portables, not home consoles.) ;)

These guys...I dunno. :heh:
How many alternate portables have fallen to the mighty Game Boy? I've lost count. (A lot of portables that I liked in their own right, especially the Neo Geo Pocket Color...that thing was awesome; man I miss it.)

I had a Sega Game Gear. It had a beautiful color screen way before its time... but it too went the way of the dodo.

Shinobi on the GG was the sheeeeyat. :)
I loved my GG...but I hated how that mofo sucked up batteries like crazy. AC adapter was a must!

Oh yeah, the 6AA batteries got sucked down in no time at all.

It doesnt look comfy.. if there's any kind of glare, it's forcing you to move/reposition your fingers, as opposed to moving your arms, I'm guessing it's not oging to be one of those things that you can sit down and play for a solid hour w/out a break.
