before he accepted my money, he made it clear that if the metal detector doesn't work, he would refund me the money. I don't want to refund it...I want the metal detector!!!

why don't you get ahold of the guy and ask him how to turn it on? Maybe there is a special way or something that you're not aware of-it can't hurt.

I'll have a chance to talk to him tomorrow. But the box is pretty easy to figure out. there is an on switch on it. I've used a metal detector before and it's not doing the typical things metal detectors do. like....beep beep boop beep bope blam. you know...stuff like that :)

Did you check to see if there is a support website for the detector? They might address this problem in the FAQs.

it may have 2 battery bays, 9volt and C, mine only beeps when its found somthing, put a gold ring on the floor and see if it beeps, also alot of the cheaper units wont pick up anything much smaller than a womans watch. Ive got a old radio shack model (in origonal box) i can give to ya, if you pay for shipping.

yeah, mine has 2 battery bays. I've put 9v in both of them and still nothing beeps. Well...it doesn't beep around metal. BUT it does peeps around magnetic objects. ie. speakers, magnets etc etc. But I can't seem to make it beep around any non-magnetic objects. if you don't mind, I would like to try to fix my metal detector, but I am interested in your metal old radio shack metal detector. Can you tell me what the model is for your unit?
