I'm leaving my day job at the end of the month to become an independent IT contractor and to build a video production business. I was having a tough time finding acceptable office space, until last week...

An old boss called me out of the blue and asked if I'd be interested in getting back into radio. I haven't worked at that station for 12 years, and have spoken to this guy maybe 5 times since then. I was kind of honored that they thought of me after so many years. They have a new radio station and are looking for someone to do the morning show, and nothing else. Just 6:00 to 9:00 every weekday morning, then I'm out the door.

So I asked if they had any office space available. Yes they do, and not just an office, but a complete office suite complete with a conference room. So we worked out a deal and I'm going to be the morning DJ and run my new business out of the building. It's a really good deal, four weeks of vacation, holidays off (unless I *want* to work them, then I get time-and-a-half), except for one thing: it's a country music station. Oh well, I'll get used to it!

Now pass me that Johnny Cash CD...

Rock on, WWP! Good luck with the new job.

except for one thing: it's a country music station.
Be sure to sprinkle some "y'all" into your morning DJ chatter. Oh, and learn to love Toby Keith.

So after your morning DJ gig you leave the room and start your video production business in the same building? What a short commute. :) Nice.

you should see if you can pay "good" country music, like old george straight, buck owens, the possum, willie, waylen, johnny, dwight yoakem, david allen coe, etc.

I don't mind country, it's just not my first choice of music genre. I was happy to hear they play a pretty good selection of bluegrass. Although bluegrass live is 10x better than recorded. They are heavier on the classic country too, so that's a plus.

My wife is happy. In her words: "At least it'll make sure you get out of the house in the morning..."

Bluegrass? Then you should have no complaints. Bluegrass is some good stuff.

Sounds pretty bad ass man. You should set up a web broadcast so G|Aers can listen in ;)

Unfortunately, the webcast is not possible. Thanks to the RIAA, broadcast stations that play music are pretty much non-existent on the internet, unless they pay big bucks.

Maybe some week I'll set it up for a GA-only audience, but certainly not my first week...
