Try this one on for size. I rent from Albertsons. I use them because ther are 1.49 a night and we don't rent that many movies. So two weeks ago I rent 4 movies. I return them all the next day. I go back in tonight. I am sorry you have $23 in late fees. I said WTF!!! Not really, but that is what I was thinking. Then says oh wait actually one was returned OK, and then two more were found on the shelves 5 days later. Then they say one you never returned. So I return all 4, you get one right, you lose two for a couple of days, then one you can't find and you blame me. The clrek said the manager is not here so I can't help you. How does that logic work? I am going to try and fight that but logic would tell me someone screwed up on their end. I hate having to waste my time to fight with them. What a pain in the A$$.

I would guess that someone "rented" it without it being entered into the system. All I can say is that at least you didnt have them tell you $1200 in late fees.

Definitely sounds like someone has a FREE movie out there!

Just ask for the store director or grocery manager next time you go in there. If you act in a courteous manner they will take off the late charges for you. No questions asked. If you act like an A-hole...that's another story.

Well I called and spoke to the manager. I explained what happened to the manager. I guess they subcontract it out. He said this has happened before and that he would take care of it. He also appologized for the problem. I guess its good to know that some places still have customer service becuase its few and far between these days.

We rent a lot of movies. A couple times they have told me that I still have a movie out, so I ask for the SKU of the movie I supposedly didn't return. Then I go to the shelf and find the exact copy of the movie they are claiming I never returned.
One time my kids rented an XBox game, and stepped on it (CRACK!) I went in while the manager was working and asked for mercy. She checked how many times the game had been rented, and subtracted that total from the replacement price of the game. It ended up costing me about $15, but she certainly could have adhered to the store policy and charged me full replacement cost.
