My girlfriend bought me a neon bar sign for christmas, from this place:
www.neonsign.com/bizsign.html or www.neonmirrors.com
way back in November.
Now, they stalled, saying they weren't able to ship the item in time for christmas as promised, and offered to give 5% off the purchase, or 20% off her next purchase. She was debating the idea of the 20% off the next purchase, because we wanted to get a bar mirror for my fathers basement but I talked her out of it...it was a month and a half later and we never got any tracking number or anything. Everytime I called I got a machine, and no message I ever left was answered.

The owner (I assume) emailed us back eventually explaining they had issues with the holidays and shipping, and apologized, and claimed the item would be at the door no later then January 12th, or January 9th...or something like that.

Anyway, it's now January 23rd and no answer from the guy.

We did get a tracking number from UPS eventually, and tracked the item. UPS claimed the item was shipped to our door, and it wasn't. It was also labeled as a 1lb package, when it should have been more like 30lbs.

Now, we're calling UPS today to start a tracert on the package, since the seller isn't responding to emails or calls...

But 2 months....from time of purchase to complete frustration and still no package. Going to call the credit card company after calling UPS to see what we can do about the charge...

Anyone know of a site to report bad business for people not in the electronic businss? They don't participate in better business buera stuff so that's no good

just called UPS, and apparently no claim can be opened until the shipper contacts UPS. Since the shipper is obviously ignoring us, I guess we're going to be out a couple hundred dollars. Hopefully the credit card company can help

Hurry up with the credit card dispute. Most cards give you 60 days from the statement date for which the charge appeared. Given the info in your post, sounds like you're either past 60 days or approaching very quickly. Not sure on the specifics, like whether the 60 days applies to postmark or receipt. Sounds like you have a solid, total-refund case, but it would suck if you got screwed because you missed the deadline by a few days.

If you paid him directly with a credit card (not using paypal) you should be fine, just be quick about it. Don't worry about doing anything else about tracking the package, just let your CC company deal with him. You'll be surprised how quickly he will respond when he gets the chargeback notice.

you can report them here, there was another site that was handling internet fraud, but it looks like it was replaced by this one. it will handle non - delivery issues

Your card should not have been charged until the order shipped. If they charged it before shipping they are doing something wrong in the firstplace.

You definately want to get your CC company involved now. Not tomorrow, now.

yeh, I contacted the cc company the other day, had to fill out a form, write a detailed letter, and fax it into them. I even put copies of the invoice, the shipping information, etc along with it. Now I just have to keep in contact with the cc company to make sure they do their job

so if you used a cc through paypal, your cc doens't cover fraud?

A lot of credit cards don't cover fraud if you use third party payment companies like Paypal because it supposedly absolves them from their liabilities (bs, I call!). Another reason to hate PP and love Amex.

Contact the local police department of the business and tell them this business is engaging in fraudulent activities. If they're worth a damn and even give him a call or stop by, i'd bet you get your bar mirror in a day or two.

well, Stopping the credit card payment got him off his butt and he called us. He claimed the item may have been shipped back return to sender and he would look for it, and contact UPS to determine where the package really went. However, it's been about a week and we haven't heard from him. Going to call up again today

Well, if you stopped payment, then you probably got your money back. I'd leave it at that and find somewhere else to shop.

no, it's still on "hold" until they resolve it
