I stopped using my favorite Schick Diamond when I couldn't find the refills anymore. And then I used a regular Mach3. I lost that one and got the M3 power. The vibrating motion of the M3P is a large improvement though.
Meh, I just use a philips norelco electric razor

The Fusion has been announced for quite a while . . . it was one of the key considerations in P&G's agreement to purchase Gillette.
It's been 8 years since the last major Gillette blade innovation (Mach 3), and will likely be another 8 years before the next one.
Gillette's business model with the razor and blade is rather frustrating, given that as they release new products, they do not reduce the price of old versions. Instead, it's quite the opposite. They slowly raise the price of the old versions, so that the difference in price between the old and new variants is so low that people eventually decide to upgrade given that the improvement in effectiveness is worth the increase in price.
The way my beard/face is, Im kind of happy to pay for something that will give me a good shave . . . electric razors sure as hell won't do it . . . though I'm still just on the regular Mach 3 . . . haven't gone to the Power . . . will likely give the Fusion a shot, though.

How many blades do you need? And there are also those ones with batteries that are supposed to vibrate or something. It is hard to come up with something new in razors. When a new one comes out, it is usually fairly cheap to get you to buy it and then the blades are rediculously priced. I can't remember the companies involved right now, but there was a merger in the last year that basically meant that one company controlled almost all of the (non electric) razor brands now. Without competition the prices will probably go up.

I love that whenever they release these new ones, they always have a sample to give away (idea being they give you the razor, you buy the cartridges). But they do it often enough, that I don't buy the cartridges, I just get a new one. =)
KEEP THEM COMING! =)
btw, schick is doing a little promo:

I have to say that maybe I have a thick beard or something but each Gillette innovation has led to a better shave for me. I loved the Mach 3, got a little more comfort in my shave with the Turbo and a little closer shave with the M3 power. I am very excited to try the Fusion altho I think the Schick Quattro sucks. I will buy any new Gillette product as I'm sure it will be awesome.
One thing I do have to say tho, the price is terrible. Use Ebay for blades.

:agree:
I've bought several of the razors that have 'refill blades' (a Sensor, Sensor Excel, then a Mach 3, recently I bought a Quattro) and I agree with you. For what you pay for 4 replacement blades - you could buy 16 disposable 3-blade razors for (either Gilette or Schick, whomever you prefer).
I've been using the Schick 3 blade disposables for a few years now and IMHO they work the best at least for me. I tried the Quattro and I like it...it does make you have a lot more of "no need to shave" days in between shavings, but, the refills are wayyyyy too frickin' much. $10 for 4 refills? Gimme a break.
I've tried electric before and they hack my face up...my neck is beet red for a few hours after I use an electric, and I found that out the hard way after I paid $150 or $250 (don't remember which) for my Norelco Quadra Action Reflex razor. I guess I've just got really sensitive skin and the act of moving the razor repeatedly over my face and neck just irritates the crap out of my skin.

I'm going to go buy one today. I'll let you know how it works next week.
I predict someone will make a "strap razor" - a long flexable strap with something like 250 blades and a handle on each end. You hold it with two hands and just swing it back and forth across your face. It'll be as big as the Shmitt (http://forums.gotapex.com/showthread.php?p=849980#post849980)!

I remember that one. Like blade 20 will cut plaque off your teeth and the last blade would scrape off the fat in your arteries or something.

for me, a replacement blad lasts about a week, costs a buck (you gotta buy in bulk). $52 a year for a close shave ain't bad.

Eh, since I stopped shaving last month, I've found my life to be simpler.
Except when my mom started screaming at me and said I looked like a cattle rustler.

Yes, but its such a pain in the arse to use a straight razor. First, you need to keep it sharp and strap it up. The only cool thing is the old fashioned lathering brush and brush cup.
I havent found a single electric razor that can handle my beard. I used the original sensor for years...got the mach3 when it first hit the market. Then I switched to the new blade version, but kept my old handle. Even more interesting, I received 2 quatros for free, end up getting paid by them for my displeasure. I will probably try this new one, but never bothered to try the power units.

Spishak Spokesman: (Voiceover) You see the first blade cuts the facial hair but before the hair can snap back the second blade cuts it again, the third blade cuts it once more, the forth blade cuts it again, the fifth blade goes deeper digging below the first layer of skin to remove the hair follicle, the sixth blade cuts away that pesky second layer of skin where there might be some renegade hair follicles, the seventh blade cuts away six more layers of skin ensuring that hair will never ever grow there. The eighth blade sends an electronic pulse to the centre of the brain which destroys the part of the brain responsible for hair growth and four other non essential functions. The ninth blade gently smoothes out the jaw bone to give your face a more even appearance. The tenth blade removes cavity causing tartar and the eleventh blade starts the process all over again. By the time the twentith blade passes over your face your a first rate professional business man. That promotion is as good as yours.
