has anyone ever tried mbm5370.exe?

I just bought an HP a1250n and so far I cannot find any software that
will monitor the CPU temp. The system does not have any and HP techs told me they don't have any software to do that. I just found this freeware called mbm5370.exe but not sure about it. So if anybody ever tried it or know someone who has please give me some feedback. Thanks


Thanks everybody. I have tried it and look like it doesn't support the newr board, but I can use it
for my other older computer with the (FAR)Soyo's motherboard :-)

Sounds like motherboard monitor to me.

Incase you found it at a shady place, I'd just run a google search for motherboard monitor.

Great piece of software providing your mobo has temperature probes on it (probably does).

I've got MBM (MotherBoard Monitor) v5.3.7.0 running on my system right now. Puts the CPU temp down in the system tray. Many other configurable options.

You can use it, but a couple fair warnings:
-It's not being developed or supported anymore by the actual developer, so all of the support comes from users. Not necessarily a bad thing per se, but I've had problems finding support for some newer motherboards with MBM.

-Another problem I had is that it was reporting incorrect temps on the wrong sensors. For instance, I could go into my bios and see a temp of 67*C whereas MBM reported like 89-90*C which is a crock. I tried numerous times to try different settings and only ended up with more (obvious) incorrect readings and wrong sensors and gave up.

So - you can use it, obviously - but...YMMV. On a computer I used to have (AMD Tbird 1.4), I swore by MBM and had no problems. (Probably because it was still in development and officially supported.) Nowadays - I haven't had anything but headaches with it.

If you can get a Health Status screen in your bios, you're better off going by what that says. :shrug:

I compared the temps from my mb's supplied utility, mbm 5, and bios, and all agreed.

Downloaded this software. It messed up Win XP Home so bad I thought I had lost everything. Would barely boot into XP, my account names would not display, no text would display at all in any part of the OS, my start button was extremely dark, all programs crashed before they could boot up, I thought I was completely screwed. Had to uninstall the software, the software left a ton of crap in my system, had to manually delete the crap it left, then run a restore point from a previous date. Based on my experience would not recommend this software.
