LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ABC is developing a series based on "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," the hit thriller that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The network has ordered a pilot, which the film's director, Doug Liman, is expected to shoot, subject to availability.

It envisages the pilot will be ready for midseason 2006-07 or fall 2007 consideration.

"Mr. & Mrs. Smith," revolving around a pair of married assassins hired to kill each other, earned more than $186 million at the North American box office last summer, and sparked a real-life romance between the two leads.

Wasn't there a series like this in the past already? I mean, I know that the story isn't new and there have been movies in the past with the same concept... for some reason I thought there had also been a series in the past like this.

Any suggestions for casting? I'd love to see a dynamic duo on the boob tube. I wonder what time slot ABC plans to line up. Definitely not against "24" since Kiefer will kick butt! :johnwoo2:

By then who knows what will work? More "reality TV"? Or "Lost"? Or Must See NBC? Or perhaps, ABC will take over as the #1 network...nah :winkie:

The movie was not that good even with them in it. The TV show will not get my time. It will be a FLOP.
