Hey everyone,

So my wife and I picked up a Min Pin this past January and she's now 6 months old. I dropped her off at the vet this morning for bloodwork and she'll be spayed tomorrow morning.

When I looked at the invoice, there were 3 charges that weren't covered under the discount program I'm participating in and I have until today to decide:

1. Urinalysis
2. ECG/Pre-Surgery/Pre-Anesthesia
3. Penicillin

I'm fine with the Penicillin, but I'm pretty sure I'll be waiving the Urinalysis (~$45) and the the ECG (~$32).

My reasoning for this is that she saw the vet right after we got her, so it's been less than a month since the doctor saw her. There were no signs of heart murmurs and everything was recorded as her being in good health.

My question is...what would you do in my case?

Thanks!

I'd tend to agree with you on this one. Young dog... should be alright

If the dog is getting a spay from the same vet, call them up and ask them to explain the exact reasons the services are needed since the pup recently had an ekg. You definately don't want complications from a spay.

Also, if your pup is not already microchipped, this is a good time to do it while under anesthesia.

Edit, I was going to say to get an opinion from the second vet but just reread that you are doing it tomorrow.
