Has anyone tried this before? I was considering throwing this on my linux testbed to see how effective it could be.

Here's the link: http://www.blackalchemy.to/project/fakeap/

Here's the quick description:

"If one access point is good, 53,000 must be better.

Black Alchemy's Fake AP generates thousands of counterfeit 802.11b access points. Hide in plain sight amongst Fake AP's cacophony of beacon frames. As part of a honeypot or as an instrument of your site security plan, Fake AP confuses Wardrivers, NetStumblers, Script Kiddies, and other undesirables. "

That would be cool to run... but I don't think my neighbors would appreciate it.

Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed when trying to [legally] connect to a network and can't find it because the wireless manager crashes when it tries to populate a list over 50,000 long.
