did you know it starts today?

seems no one's really excited about this year's olympics. there wasn't much coverage of it in the weeks before...with 24hr bush coverage and all.

anyhoo, this year's US olympic team is touted as being "the best team ever." we'll see... though i think it's great that michelle kwan gets one more chance for the gold, she won't get it. but i'm more interested in the snow events and speed skating. will the s.koreans get their revenge on apolo ono and roundhouse him in the throat with their skates? should be interesting... heh.

how 'bout you? did you guys know that the olympics started today? do you even care? as a coworker just said... "but it's just the winter olympics. that's only one step up from the special olympics." :heh:

Anyone know where a schedule of which events will be on tv at which times is?

I wanna make sure I watch some skating. 's the only one I'll be at all interested in, I think.

I'm excited. I actually love watching different sports. Sometimes you get sick from just football/baseball/basketball/hockey/etc. I love speedskating and curling and sometimes even the weirder ones like biathalon and stuff.

damn...I'm watching the opening ceremonies and they have this sweet part where a bunch of people form a ski jumper and they move him around. It's quite impressive! Even marching bands can't do that elaborate of moves and they nailed pretty much each form change.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

yah. that was really cool although i have to admit that i initially didn't follow what they were doing until a few seconds into it.

i'm personally very excited for this. good skiing is NEVER on tv - or they're very hard to find in networks that my extended cable won't even carry - and this is gonna be two weeks of awesome ski events. also, korea's a superpower in short track skating so i will definitely flip on the nationalist switch and watch that closely.

I'm thinking of signing up for cable TV for a month or two so I can catch all the hockey and NCAA Tourney.

The Opening Ceremonies were AWESOME! However, to start a re-broadcast at 9PM for the PST? Ick!

A bunch of friends (which included a few Summer Olympians - three women's beach volleyball players) and I caught the San Diegan Olympic festivities held in the Little Italy section of the city. A few big screens were set up & the main drag was open for pedestrians only. Very nice atmosphere & all. Nice to see certain crowds cheer when a particular country was announced in the athlete's parade. KNSD 7/39, the local NBC affiliate co-hosted the event. I even got three limited edition Olympic pins!
