Admitting to mistakes best policy
Here are four suggestions on how to recognize, admit and survive mistakes and inaccuracies.
1) Accept that no one is right all the time, not even you. Tom Watson, the founder of IBM said, "to increase the success rate, double the failure rate." He meant we all must take risks to arrive at the success we want.
2) If a mistake affects others negatively, admit it, apologize and move on.
3) Try to learn from mistakes so you don't repeat them. "Insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result," said Werner Erhart. "Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it," said Bismarck.
4) When you make a mistake, be careful not to continue to berate yourself. Move forward with a positive attitude.
Mistakes happen. We don't like having to admit them. However, we should, to ourselves and to those affected by them.
