When I buy socks, I try to get 2 or 3 pairs of the same. That way, if one gets a hole, I throw it out and it's "match" becomes a backup for the next holey sock.

By the way, "holey" is the only two-syllable triple homonym that I have been able to find (holey, wholly, holy).

This is how anal I am, I can't stand the hole in the sock thing but when my kids run around all day in them and I know that me washing is a waste, I toss them out!!! How silly is that!!!

I buy a pack of a dozen socks and they all into the same drawer, if one gets a hole, I toss it and like others have said, the match doesn't matter. :)

I don't throw them out after I wash them. I use them as rags. Generally, they're good for working with shoe polish.

Old socks and (most) old clothes (especially t-shirts which makes up 85% of my wardrobe :heh:) work well as shop rags, cleaning rags, etc.
