Outlook XP and newer should allow you to connect to an HTTP enabled email server.

if you are refering to RPC over HTTP then your Mac is out of luck

I didn't think he was looking for a Mac solution, since he said he friend had a Mac and was successful, and was still trying to find a solution. But I may have read that wrong.

Is it a Mac Gilbert?

if the Mac is fine then for sure it ain't your firewall

in outlook 2003
edit your Connection settings

Tools - Options - Mail Setup E-mail Accounts -view or change next - Change - More Settings... - Connection - check Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP - Exchange Proxy Settings - enter in the URL - check the On fast network - Proxy Authen - use Basic
