the girls got it going on so much more than the guys it seems. but i've said since the auditions that Paris is going to win it all, and i felt stronger last night about that choice after seeing the girl's performances.
she's got it in here genes for sure.

she's a great singer, great on stage and has a super personality.
i'd be happy to see her win it.
when Simon had commented on them needing a bigger stage this year due to her weight and then she told him to his face that she had forgiven him for making fun of her because you "can forgive someone even if they don't say they are sorry."

:agree:
I can't stand her....she's reaching levels of cockiness that only Kanye West has achieved. :heh:
What was with all the slow songs last night though? Except for Mandisa and Paris, everyone else sang slow, low toned songs and I almost slept through the whole thing. I hope the guys tonight sing some more fast paced/high energy songs (like Bo did in S4 with Sweet Home Alabama, etc).
I like Mandisa on the women's side and Taylor Hicks (guy with the gray hair) on the guy's side...I hope those two are the finalists.
I think Katharine McPhee and Paris Bennett are really good too. Most of the girls have fair to good talent...on the guy's side...I don't really like any of them except Taylor. Almost all of the guys are a bunch of poindexters. :heh:
I like Mandisa 'cause she's a thick woman and I'm sick of the anorexic ones getting the spotlight. :thumb: Don't get me wrong...I love Kelly Clarkson (umm...no wait, I didn't just say that) and I like Carrie Underwood a lot. (I can't even name a single song that either Reuben or Fantasia has done so I'll omit them, even though Reuben was a bit of a 'large' fella himself.)
It'd be nice to see Mandisa be in the top 2 'cause she doesn't look like 'the stereotypical "star"' and I'd like to see her get some recognition. :)
I thought we'd stop watching after the initial shows (with the terrible people that everyone loves to laugh at and wonder how they think they have talent), but...we're still watching.

American Idol’s William Hung Found Dead of Heroin Overdose
7/13/2004 - Robert Krupto
Las Vegas, NV - Kitschy American Idol Star William Hung, famous for his botching of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs,” was found dead yesterday, apparently of an intentional heroin overdose. The announcement of his death sent shockwaves to the tens of people who still found him funny.
Ironically, Mr. Hung was found by a VH1 camera crew sent to begin filing “William Hung: Behind the ‘Music.’” Viacom immediately decided to rename the special: “William Hung: fifteen minutes till death.”
Friends of Mr. Hung say he had become despondent in recent days. “I don’t know, it’s just so sad,” said Ming Tse, one of Hung’s former classmates at Stanford, “I heard him the other day on Snotbubble’s Morning Madhouse; he kept trying to make William say things like ‘me so horny’ and ‘hey sailor’ while playing the sound of a bomb falling. I just know William was hurting inside when Snotbubble got him to say, ‘you wanna some-e egg foo young-e.’ It was so sad. I just think he was tired of the commercialization of it all.”
Other friends, who had lost contact with him in recent weeks, feared he was becoming too “Hollywood.” “I’m not surprised he was on heroin,” said Hung’s engineering cohort Melvin Samples, “I mean just two months ago we were out at our usual corner table at Smitty’s, and William actually went and talked to some girls. The next thing I know he’s doing shots with some hipster guys; they were calling him ‘Long Duck Dong’ and making him say ‘au-to-mo-bile.’ From what I hear, it’s not a long leap from that to heroin addiction.”
Stanford’s hippy population immediately misconstrued the situation and adopted Hung’s death as a pet cause. “He was a victim of the corporate greed-machine, just like Kurt [Cobain] and Eddie [Vedder, who is actually still alive],” said one dreadlocked mourner outside the engineering department at Stanford University, where a makeshift memorial had been set up, “he just wanted to sing, and Fox decided to turn him into this joke, man, this ****ing joke. They just ate him up and spit him out. ****ing Bill O’Reily. I think it’s because he was against the war.” The last comment is apparently in reference to the fact that Hung once answered “no, thank you” when asked whether he was “for or against the war in Iraq.”
The Las Vegas police released part of his suicide note. It read, “I have no reason of living . . . my art which is my importance to the best everybody laugh to . . . I make end here . . . goodbye world of cruel.”
Although Hung’s immediate family disowned him seconds after his appearance on American Idol, it is believed he has an aunt in Toledo, Ohio who will take care of funeral arrangements.

He starts talking to women and having fun with some people and that's "not a long leap to heroin addiction"? WTF are YOU addicted to, ya bleedin' idiot. :stupid:

A) Cobain killed himself because he was suicidal and depressed and the heroin didn't help the situation any. A lot of people think that the popularity (and the responsibility that comes along with it) is what killed him, but no one will ever know. About the only 'reach' that can be made about this is with Dave Chappelle recently getting all messed up (mentally) and seeking escape; he didn't take the "permanent" route though (obviously).
B) Eddie Vedder isn't a 'victim' of anything except his stubborness and a complete writer's block of talent. Pearl Jam hasn't put out a decent album since Vs.; I like Vitalogy myself but it's nowhere near as good as Vs. and a longstretch from Ten.
C) Bill O'Reilly is a weak jack***; I hate the tool. He loves poking fun at people but the first instance of anyone commenting on his 'infidelity' gets a load of harsh words. Nice one, Bill. :poke:
The Las Vegas police released part of his suicide note. It read, “I have no reason of living . . . my art which is my importance to the best everybody laugh to . . . I make end here . . . goodbye world of cruel.”
Although Hung’s immediate family disowned him seconds after his appearance on American Idol, it is believed he has an aunt in Toledo, Ohio who will take care of funeral arrangements.
The first thought (about the suicide note) is that it's sad enough...but his family disowning him? WTF that's just terrible; I can't believe that. :disa:
The guy was funny...whether he had "talent" or not...he was still funny. :|

I'm pretty sure that site is a farce...
Had William Hung really died, entertainment news would be all over it by now.
BTW...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Hung
Rumors circulated around the Internet in mid-2004 that Hung had died of a heroin overdose. Started by a satirical article on Broken Newz written by Bill Doty and Joe the Peacock, the rumour spread far enough that a Singaporean newspaper, The Straits Times, printed an article confirming that he was not dead and would fulfill his tour schedule in that country.

http://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories/stories/D_IMAGE.109d50b72cd.93.88.fa.d0.28d9e8c7.jpg
i guess he's been asked by the band Fuel to be their new lead singer. they were impressed with his rendition of their song "Hemorrhage" that he sang on the show. which i thought sounded close to the original too.
Fuel reportedly offers Idol's Chris Daughtry a job as its lead singer
American Idol 5 frontrunner Chris Daughtry impressed the judges and the public with his rendition of “Hemorrhage” by Fuel last week. And he also impressed Fuel, so much so that they’ve reportedly offered him a job as their lead singer.
Jeff Abercrombie, the group’s bass player, told Extra that Chris did “a great job. This guy delivered. And he delivered like he’d written the song himself.” The band’s lead singer, Brett Scallions, left the group early in February. And following Chris’ performance, Randy Jackson told Access Hollywood that “Chris just got offered to be in the band Fuel, the lead singer is gone so they are trying to get it together.”
But it may not be a sure thing. The group is having a contest to replace their lead singer. Their web site’s announcement for this search mentions Chris’ performance, but also asks others to send in performances for consideration. Of course, Chris is currently handcuffed to Idol by its contract, so by the time he can sing for Fuel, its original members will be long gone.

Manilow was on for a show and gave them pointers and helped with their arrangements for that show, but thank gawd they didn't have to sing his songs. unlike when Stevie Wonder was on and they all had to sing one of his songs. which was cool.

...which was reported all over the place that he didn't admit to 'stealing' the Live cover of the song, which is a fallacy, because the judges were the idiots that didn't know that Live did a cover of the song...and I'm sure he (Chris) was tired of defending himself for people sticking words in his mouth so he talked about it the other night when Seacrest asked about it and he said "yeah it was Live's version".
I still hope Mandisa wins.
I like Taylor but I'm getting sick of him...his euphemisms (sp?) and his "dancing", its...getting old. It was great the first few times - it's time to do something else and show he's not one dimensional.
Chris is a great singer...I like him a lot. I also think Elliot has really shown a lot the last few weeks and he's gotten much better as well. And I still like Bucky even though I'm sure he'll get canned this week for being "country".
I'm surprised McPhee was in the bottom 3 last week...what a shock. I don't really like her that much myself...she's ok. I can't stand Kellie Pickler...what a fake. That girl is seriously getting on my nerves. "I've never sang in front of people before." Yeah sure Kellie...it's not like you go to karaoke every week or anything. :shifty:
I think the judges have officially become worthless.
Randy Jackson needs to go back to grade school because he doesn't know any other words than "dog" and "word". Paula needs to lay off the drugs. Simon needs to quit the "extremist" garbage. (ie "You're the WORST EVER" or "You're the greatest I've ever heard"...show us some gray area/middle...don't flipflop from one extreme to the other and quit being so melodramatic) :poke:

My favorites are Elliot, Katharine and Mandisa.
I liked Taylor, but he's grown old on me. Same stuff every time. And that's my problem with Chris: He can do the rock stuff. He could fill in for Nickelback or the like anyday and would be great in that type of band, but it's similar stuff every week and I'd like to hear something different.
Pickler is cute and all, but just so dumb I can't stand it. I did not like Paris at the beginning but she has majorly grown on me.
Bucky needs to go, I'm sorry, he looks like a child molester and I can't stand listening to him.
Elliot might be a little goofy looking, and Mandisa may not be your standard star, but they both have mega talent and that's what this should be about.

Another one bites the dust...
Now they are down to eight contestants - with Mandisa "Man-Diva" having left the gang. I really thought she would hang in but then again I sort of saw the handwriting on the wall. For some reason, her last few song choices didn't "WOW" the judges and when the competition is that tight - that's all it takes. What has me puzzled is that B-U-C-K-Y is still alive and kicking!? I just don't get that one...

the fact is "country music" is not for her. that is what sucks. some of these people are strong in one music category and screw versatility, because if they were to make it big they wouldn't have to sing different genres of music anyway.
i was quite surprised that Mandisa, Elliot and Paris were in the bottom three. i thought for sure that the 3some of Bucky, Katherine and Ace would've been there.

Don't get me wrong, I think Daughtry is really good. However, this show is supposed to show people that they can sing well despite what type of song it may be. I see how he wants to stand true to rock and roll, but it doesnt seem like he can pull any other style off.

My take:
Mandisa being voted off is proof that the show is rigged. :shifty:
Anyhow -
down to 7.
Ace should be next to go. No talent there. He's better suited to pose nude for Playgirl (which he'll probably do 'cause he's full of himself). Pickler to follow - the "I'm a dumb blonde country girl but not really cause i'm fake" thing is old. That leaves McPhee, Paris, Chris, Elliot and Taylor. Out of them - Paris will probably go first. I like her better than McPhee but she'll get voted off 'cause she's younger and "not as good looking"...(not what I think though).
I really can't stand McPhee. She's also full of herself. (Her + Ace separated at birth?) Her voice is decent but not all that "great". (Nothing I'd buy at least...she doesn't have anywhere near the vocal talent of Mandisa, or the prior winners Clarkson and Underwood.)
Final three is all guys -
which I struggle with, 'cause I like Chris but his "screaming rocker" thing is getting stale...show some diversity. He'll probably get a record deal elsewhere if he doesn't win; I hear the former members of Fuel like him and might ask him to replace their former singer Bret Scallion's place. Elliot has the most vocal ability out of the people left IMO...I don't think 'the girls' are sweet on him though like they are horsefACE. Taylor...his "soul man" thing is just bottoming out IMO. Him + Chris will have a hard time showing that they can do anything else other than their one-trick routines. (I like both of them, but I'd definitely pick Chris over Taylor because Chris would actually put out a record of music that I'd listen to and buy.)
If the person with the most talent wins - Elliot will win; I'm sure he'll get voted off 'cause this year it's all about 'vote for the worst'. I saw someone the other day post a msg online saying "listen to Elliot's voice and don't look at the tv"...I did it (unintentionally last night cause I was working on my laptop while my wife was watching) and he does have the best voice out of the people left IMO. I like Chris a lot also...I'd like to see Chris + Elliot in the finals but it'll never happen. Again though - no matter what - I think Chris will get a record deal with someone somewhere. Mandisa most likely will also.

I think the judges made it clear from the first performance of the final 12 that Elliot had the best vocals. However, the winner isn't just the person that has the best vocals, it's about the whole package and Elliot tends to be a bit boring in his performances.
I think it comes down to Paris, Chris and Taylor with Chris winning. Chris has been the most consistent so far (that's what happens when you take everything you sing and bring it back to your comfort level).

Definately agree with you there -- heck, even Kellie herself admitted to butchering the song. Here's hoping she's gone. :)
Elliott hasn't been impressing me much the past few weeks, but last night he did pretty well -- as did the other 5 (not including Pickle).

She was bottom 3 last week, so yeah, it wasn't that expected. Furthermore, its just damn uncouth to do it anywhere, let alone on national TV. It's damn disgusting to just hand over your gum to somebody else, and it shows a lack of common sense.
Hell, if I was at a banking dinner and I just handed my boss some gum out of my mouth or a banker, my ass would be fired in a day.
It was bad form, showed lack of glass, and was disgusting.

again... what should she have done with it?
you can't really compare that to a dinner with your boss. i would say the pressure for those contestants trumps that scenerio many times.
she might not have thought fully about what she actually was doing. maybe she just impulsively handed it off to Seacrest like the contestants do with their tissues.
again.. did she lack class at any other time? not that i've seen. i don't think handing gum off on American Idol so she could sing, and that girl can sing, will hurt her future one bit.

Heh, my boss, her boss, her boss' boss, and the treasurer of a fortune 100 company, along with bankers that provide billions in funding and I hand her some gum right in front of them? Yeah, I don't think so.
Which provides even more backup to what I am saying. If they thought it would be bad in front of them, imagine what people will think in front of millions of viewers?
She might be able to sing, somewhat, but I don't think she was anywhere close to the best contestant. McPhee is much better, and chris is even more so. Comparison to hicks is hard, elliot about even.

i agree with all of that except the "somewhat" able to sing part. she can belt out a tune with a very distinct style that is unlike anyone else who is or was on the show. she also has a stage presence like someone who has been singing in front of an audience a lot longer than a 17 year old could have been.

Seems a little unfair to Katherine to have to sing songs sung by one male artist. Elvis songs really aren't in her vocal range and the arraingments sucked too. I think next week, everyone should have to sing Whitney Houston songs and we'll see how the guys fare.
I think Katherine performed the worst, but being the one female left, I'm guessing she should still get 90% of the guy votes. I'm sticking by my prediction that Taylor will be gone this week.

How come the percentage of votes was not announced like on usual voting nights? How come Taylor was allowed to sing that second song per request of Rebecca Stamos? How come everyone who tried to get through on the phones for Chris (both lines) kept getting busy signals and could not get through? Read the message boards..not only is the show fixed, picking that McPhee camera hog over Daughtry was is a joke. There is nothing "awesome" about her voice..she's cookie cutter classic pretty girl who can sing-kind of like the ones they put in high school musicals. The only GOOD thing that came out of last night's decision was that Daughtry isn't going to be locked into that crappy contract they'd give him like they gave Clarkson in the first season..he needs to be able to do his own thing and now he has a chance. Idol gave him the opportunity to put his voice out there-he's going to go much further without the stigma have having AI after his name. After thinking about it some more this morning (cause I have no life)..I've come to the conclusion that I"M GLAD he's off the show..NOW HE CAN really pursue the career he was intended to have..and he's gonna do very well at it and he won't have to wait a year to let some lame contract for AI expire..I hope he doesn't do the AI tour either..he's much to good for that. Oh and btw, for anyone who hasn't yet picked up Beau Bice's CD..it's EXCELLANT.

On the late Fox news here, Simon and Randy were both interviewed after the show last night. When asked if Chris was better than Catherine, Simon replied,
"YES" I have come to terms with Chris being gone. But I am done watching because I no longer care who wins. :puke:

Well done with IDOL for good. There is no way any of the other three can compete against Chris. He can go make his own contract without AI and be much better off. I will not buy any of the records from the final three. They need to limit the number of votes by phone number to prevent people using phone dialers and other things. People are no doubt screwing with the show becuase this IDOL, whoever it is, will be a huge flop this year.

I agree, but what is strange is that this Web site http://dialidol.com/asp/predictions/Predictions.asp
which is suppose to be a speed dialing application designed for American Idol ® but not affiliated with Fox which claims to do a live tallying during "the vote" came out with their tally on Tuesday morning before any voting took place and they were right. Hmmmm.

I liked Chris - he wasn't my favorite but I did like him. I was shocked that he was voted off. I don't think Taylor is a poor performer but he's not as good as Chris yet - he's never been in the bottom, at least not to my recollection. I think it should have been Chris, Elliott and Kat that remained but Elliott, Kat and Taylor, that is ludicrous!? I agree that Chris didn't give his best performance on the second song he sang - he did fine with the first one. I don't think Simon wanted to see him go either. Taylor is not unique, there are a million people that can sing like him - he's not idol material and he dances like he's having a seizure!!!! I see him performing in some local club - not making records that go gold or platinum!! At any rate, Kat is talented - say what you will about her personality but she can sing and sing well. She's a little immature but so is Brittany Spears and she can't sing all that well! I think Elliott is going to win and he was my pick from day one. Taylor needs to go next he's no match for Kat or Elliott - vocally speaking.

Chris did ok with the first song, but he was terrible with Little Less Conversation. Being good at the second part of the song doesn't make up for the first part. As to what else are you supposed to do with an elvis song...plenty. The man recorded a billion songs, pick a better one. guess what sunshine, it seems there were voting errors Tue night due to the fact that SeaCrust said Kat's # when he was supposed to say Chris's. people are claiming they called that number in attempts to vote for Chris and were told the number was Katherines. that's quite a mess up, and may have cost Chris his spot. also, there are reports of the lines to vote for Daughtry being busy for many voters for 2 hours straight so these people weren't able to get through and vote for him. i've often wondered why they just don't have phone lines that say "press one for this contestant, press two for this one, etc." why does everyone have to have their own numbers?
doesn't matter though, look for Daughtry as Fuel's front man very soon. that's what it's all about anyway - success.

Chris Daughtry Gets Job Offer From Fuel After Getting the Boot on `American Idol'
05-12-2006 2:34 AM
By STEVE HARTSOE, Associated Press Writer
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Chris Daughtry is looking to launch his music career after getting booted from "American Idol." Fuel is searching for a lead singer after Brett Scallions quit.
The band offered Daughtry a job Thursday, hours after viewers voted him off the Fox television talent show.
Bass player Jeff Abercrombie and guitarist Carl Bell made their pitch on the TV show "Extra."
"Chris, if you are watching, we've talked about this before, and if you want to entertain it again we'll take it and go," Abercrombie said.
Daughtry, who dreamed of becoming a rock star while working in the service department at a Greensboro car dealership, told reporters earlier Thursday he was considering whether to pursue fronting an established rock band or launching a solo career.
"I'm a songwriter myself," the 26-year-old said. "To be able to launch my own career would be a dream" come true.
The buzz around Daughtry for weeks has been that he could end up Fuel's lead singer; Scallions left the band in February.
Daughtry performed the band's song "Hemorrhage" on a recent "Idol" show. His wife, Deanna, said she's not sure which option he should pursue, but either way music is all he's ever wanted to do.
"He's got a lot on him and hopefully he'll have a lot of wisdom there," she said. "The public forgets so fast about those idols once they get off the show. I just hope they don't forget about Chris."
Many observers thought the shaved-head rocker from McLeansville would win this year's competition.
On Tuesday's show, Daughtry performed two Elvis Presley songs. His rendition of "Suspicious Minds" drew strong reviews from judges. Paula Abdul said, "See you in the finals."
Judge Simon Cowell said his second song _ "A Little Less Conversation" _ was "flat" and not as good as the first performance.
Daughtry, who said he doesn't regret anything he did on the show, said he was shocked to get voted off because so many people had picked him to win _ which may have led overconfident fans to not bother casting votes.
"They didn't have to vote as hard, and I think that was the downfall, in my opinion," he said, refusing to critique the other three finalists. "It was definitely a gut-wrenching moment and I was not expecting it, even a little bit."
Some fans around his hometown fear their votes were mistakenly credited to one of the other contestants because they'd get another hopeful's voice thanking them for the call instead of Daughtry's, family friend Tracey Adams said.
One music industry expert said it shouldn't be the end for Daughtry, who has a great opportunity to cash in as a solo artist because of the equity he's built on the show.
"I think he should definitely pursue that at this point," said Jeff Walker, president of AristoMedia, a Nashville-based company that develops and promotes music artists. "He's got a lot of people that like him."

Simon Cowell Picks Taylor Hicks to Be Next 'American Idol' and Says Elliot Yamin Is Next to Go
Simon Cowell - the "America Idol" judge predicts that the gray-haired Taylor Hicks will be the next "American Idol." "I'm going to say he's the favorite, but what do I know?" Cowell told Jay Leno on NBC's "Tonight Show" Monday, May 15, 2006.
05-16-2006 11:29 AM
NEW YORK -- Simon Cowell predicts that the gray-haired Taylor Hicks will be the next "American Idol."
"I'm going to say he's the favorite, but what do I know?" the "Idol" judge told Jay Leno on NBC's "Tonight Show" on Monday.
Cowell had earlier predicted that rocker Chris Daughtry, who was booted off "Idol" in an upset last week, would be among the show's three remaining finalists.
Instead, along with the 29-year-old Hicks, an Alabama native, the remaining contestants on the Fox program are sultry crooner Katharine McPhee and Elliot Yamin.
Cowell expects Yamin to be the next to go, resulting in a Hicks-McPhee finale on May 23-24. Though Cowell thought McPhee, 21, should have been voted off last week, he thinks she'll last one more round.
"Based on last week, absolutely she should have gone," said Cowell. "But, you know, she's got a fighting chance. I think she'll make the final, and I'll tell you why: because I'm choosing one of her songs this week."
The 27-year-old Yamin might not have Cowell's vote, but he has a fan in judge Paula Abdul.
Last week, Abdul told Teen People magazine, "I am going to be honest with you _ I want Elliot to win."
After performances Tuesday evening, the remaining "Idol" field of three was to be cut down to two on Wednesday (9 p.m. EDT). The winner will be crowned May 24.

What I don't know is if he has enough confidence in himself or his ability to even make it in the music industry. At any rate, I think Taylor is just "average". I think Elliot is gone tonight as much as I like him. Taylor and Kat sang fairly well last night but as most are saying, out of the three it appears as though Elliot will go home. I think too many people thought Chris would make it all the way, and I agree he is good, but he never showed any other type of sound aside from rock. The show is supposed to show how your voice can cover any type of music, but it didnt appear as though he could do that. We will see what happens....

So what is Chris was a rocker..everything Carrie Underwood sang last year had a peculiar country twang to it..she won (over Beau) and is she even doing anything now? I haven't heard much from her out there on any alternative rock stations, or worse yet, any hip hop stations..so your theory, to me, is wrong..

I didnt say that no one else didnt sing just what they are used to. Speaking just on Chris however, American Idol even made of point of stating that he refused to sing anything other than a rock type of sound. I think Pickler pretty much did the same thing as well. It grows old when they dont show any other type of sound. I liked Taylor a lot in the beginning, but now its just the same old stuff week after week.

I hope McPhee gets the boot 'cause she botched the hell out of the 3rd song, but she'll probably end up staying. I dunno though, someone on the radio this morning said a lot of the people who voted for Chris last week will probably vote for the other two guys since she stayed and Chris left and they'll most likely want her to get booted.
McPhee has the most generic sounding female singing voice on the planet. Can she sing? Sure, she's good. But she sounds exactly like Clarkson and Underwood (well, maybe not *exactly* like Clarkson; she's probably one of the best female singers I've heard over the last few years).
The guys are the only ones with unique voices and music styles...if McPhee gets booted, I still think Taylor wins next week unless he bombs and Elliot comes up with something big and stops singing so lifeless.

By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer
NEW YORK -- Tears streamed from "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul's eyes when the result was announced. The audience stood and clapped, paying their respects.
In a close vote, Abdul's favorite finalist, Elliott Yamin _ an "Idol" underdog and blue-eyed soul singer _ was bounced off the Fox talent contest during Wednesday's elimination show.
The exit of the 27-year-old Richmond, Va., resident cleared the path for a final showdown between gray-haired Taylor Hicks and sultry Katharine McPhee. The winner will be crowned May 24.
During Wednesday's program, Yamin told host Ryan Seacrest he felt "truly blessed."
"I hope it doesn't stop here," he said of his music career.
Yamin, who is 90 percent deaf in his right ear, was considered the show's best _ and most sensitive _ male singer. When "Idol" featured a segment on Wednesday documenting his return home to greet fans in Virginia, he broke down in tears. Abdul also wept.
Judge Simon Cowell seemed to sense Yamin's impending departure on Tuesday's program.
"Your songs are not going to carry you through to next week _ that's the problem," Cowell told Yamin, who had performed a cover of Ray Charles' "I Believe To My Soul."
"However, you are a great guy. You are a great singer. And whatever happens, you will make your mom very proud for what you've achieved for this competition."
Abdul, who recently said she wanted Yamin to win "Idol," called him a "funky white boy."
"You pierce through the heart," she told him on Tuesday's program.
Nearly four years since its debut, "Idol" continues to rule the ratings. It has attracted 25 million to 33 million viewers each telecast this season.
Seacrest said on Wednesday's program that viewers called in 50 million votes.

I liked Elliott a lot and he seemed like a genuinely good guy. I also respect that he's dealt with being diabetic, being 90% deaf in one ear, and his mom's sickness and remained positive. I like that he was able and willing to cry. But now, I really like Katherine a lot. I think she has amazing pipes and she's beautiful. Taylor does not have the best voice, but he is fun and that's why he's around. If he looked like he does, sang like he does, but was the energy level of say Elliott I don't think Taylor would have even been in the Top 10.

I really, really feel you on this one! Elliott may not have been the best looking and he lacked luster most of time but the boy can really sing!!! I don't dislike Taylor but he's a Las Vegas lounge act - not idol material. Most of the comments I've seen on this thread about Kat are personal and not about her talent = which she does have. I hope someone of quality in the industry gives Elliott a shot - I think ignoring him would be a loss to the music industry. And my vote is for Kat as well since Elliott is out. And lastly - none of the previous idols are doing "that" great. All of them have at least one hit single or one sort of succesful CD. But where are they now??? Kelly Clarkson is looking promising - but for how long? For some reason they all seem to fade at some point...:|

McPhee's voice is very classic "senior high musical" if you ask me..nothing special about her-and that hair! OMG pull it back already..she's a camera hog, always trying to bat her lashes at the camera..
Taylor doesn't exactly classify as Las Vegas Lounge act..I'd put McPhee in there instead..she's got the right look for it that's for sure. Someone said they feel sorry for Yamin because he's diabetic, deaf, and his mom was sick..yeh and? There are alot of diabetics in this world-(look at BB KING)..diabetics don't need special treatment (just special diets, meds and monitoring of their blood sugar with chemstrip kits)..they live just like anyone else-it doesn't affect their ability to sing. If you ask me, his deafness in one ear was a plus for him-he doesn't hear background noise so it's easier for him to hit certain notes perfectly..I know this because I have a brother who is completely deaf in one ear and you should hear him sing opera! (and recently, my oldest daughter was diagnosed with hearing loss in both ears and now she has hearing aids for both ears -which unfortunately for her-make everything sound like the "whisper 2000" apparatus-she gets loads of feedback from everything and driving in the car she has to take them out if she has her windows open because the wind blowing causes the sounds to amplify..it's wierd..and hard for her because she's a nurse but she still lives on..)
Clarkson? Promising? omg you've got to be kidding me..once she got out of her AI contract her records were better and sold even more..she'll be around for a long time.

Yes yes yes only two more days until hopefully (if there's any hope left in the world) the clock strikes 12 and Cinderella wakes up from her dream and realizes she's back in her dull boring life again. (ie Taylor wins :pfft: and McPhee loses :bawl:)

I don't get the animosity towards her. Personally, I think she's just as good a singer as Elliot. I know I'll be flamed for this, but... I personally do not love Elliot's voice. He seems like a very nice guy, yes. But too much vibrato for me personally. Kat's voice is pretty, not a belter by any means. To me, Taylor is by far the most entertaining and deserves to be the Am Idol. If you go solely on voice, I think it should be Kat out of the 2 of them. If you go solely on voice, there are others that are gone from the competition that should have won.
and obby, your camera hog comment made me laugh hysterically. Aren't you a big Constantine fan? OMG. He's a TOTAL camera hog, batting eyelashes, staring into the camera. Kat does nothing nearly so obvious.
I am really clueless about why all the haters here and other sites towards her.
*edit* Sorry, actually, you are a Bo Bice fan, not Constantine. nm. But my point still stands. She is not a camera hog at all like that.

Great to see someone who agrees with me -- it seems opinions like ours are rare (even on the Canadian Idol boards that I frequent as well). I really don't see a problem with Kat at all. When she smiled after Elliott left, it was because she was happy she made the final two -- not because Elliott left. Trust me, with how grueling Idol is on the finalists, hearing the news that you're in the final two can outweigh pretty much anything else.
I also agree with your comments about Elliott -- his voice didn't suit my liking either (and for the same reason -- too much vibrato).
Nonetheless, I do think all three finalists have a future in music ahead of them -- I know a lot of people who do like Elliott, and I do respect that (everyone's entitled to their opinion).
