View Full Version : SS: Kworld rebate rip-off alert!
Don't buy Kworld products with rebates; all rebates are handled directly by Kworld. Typical Kworld rebate scamming scenario: they'll sit on your rebate until you contact them, then they may pay, ignore you, or make some ridiculous excuse why your rebate has been voided with no possibility of resubmission. Majority goes unpaid, that's how they make their money. Search the web and see all the people they've angered. If you've been had, please file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) against this rebate scamming company...

Thanks, but I've already spoken to them, several times. They say I sent the wrong barcode. I gave them photographic proof (from another box) the barcode I sent came from their box; they could have easily verified this from the boxes they have at their office. Apparently, my box was missing a sticker with the correct barcode, that's their factory's error, not mine. Eventhough the barcode I sent was not the one they wanted, their rebate form did not specifically state what numbers should be in the barcode, merely "Original UPC barcode cut from retail box." That was exactly what I did, I sent the only barcode that was on my box as required. Somehow, they were not able to comprehend this and continued to insist it was the wrong barcode. Update: Kworld is now saying it is Newegg's fault for my box not having the correct barcode...go figure.

did you keep copies of all forms you sent to them?
what was the item?
KEEP CALLING THEM! and this time ask to speak to a manager/supervisor.

Hi, nickel:
I purchased the ATSC-110 from Newegg back in November; it had a $30 rebate. And, I kept a copy of the rebate documentation. On the first call, I spoke to a Jason Lin at Kworld, he kept repeating the barcode was not theirs and it could have came from anywhere. When I asked who the manager was, Jason Lin said he was the manager. On the second call, I spoke to a Mei Chen, it was the same story from her "wrong barcode." Again, I asked who the manager was, but this time it was a Robert. When I asked to speak to Robert, he was conveniently unavailable; Mei Chen also refused to provide Robert's last name. It's extremely frustrating trying to reason with them.

Did you try calling newegg? While they don't just give you the money or anything, they perhaps will lean on Kworld a bit for you.

i agree. give newegg a call. tell them you bought this product in confidence that the $30 rebate would come through. you would like to return the product to them for false advertising if they cannot remedy the situation for you.
is newegg still offering this product and advertising that it has a rebate?

Hi, Cubsfan & nickel:
I sent Newegg this e-mail:
>>>
The attached picture shows the barcode that was submitted with the rebate.
Kworld insists that is not the correct barcode and refuses to honor the
rebate. As my box only had one barcode, that was the barcode I submitted; no where on the rebate form does it state what numbers should be on the
barcode. The people at Kworld are beyond reasonable. Unfortunately, my
purchase was through Newegg and the rebate required that the purchase be
made at Newegg, this requirement made Newegg a partner in the rebate. From a legal standpoint, my grievance is with Newegg because the contract of purchase was with Newegg and Newegg is a partner in the rebate. Newegg has offered half the rebate amount ($15) and suggested I pursue the other half from Kworld. Legally, Newegg is obligated for the full amount ($30), and if
so wished, it will be Newegg's right to pursue Kworld for their share. All I
want is the full $30 I am due. I have made many purchases from Newegg and
wish to continue to do so. The difference of what your company offered and
the full rebate amount is minimal to a company such as yourself, but it is a
large amount to me. I am pleading to you, in the name of Customer Service,
to please refund the full rebate amount of $30.

Newegg's customer representative response was they'll send it to the supervisor. Newegg won't provide the name of the supervisor nor allow me to speak to this mysterious person. And, no, I wasn't rude in any way, I played nice. Honestly, I have NEVER had so much problem with a rebate. Usually, a call and a fax (of the rebate form/receipt/UPC) will fix it.
Newegg still sells the product, and from reading the reviews, other people also having rebate problems:

at this point i probably would take the $15, and contact any agency you can to complain about KWorld.
also stress to NewEgg it is not right for them to continue to advertise this $30 rebate.

Yay! Newegg came through with the full $30 rebate amount. Thank you, Newegg! And, thanks to y'all for reading and replying!

It didn't surprise me to see Newegg fork over the entire rebate. They are one of the few companies that REALLY does a good job of customer service. The few times I've had issues with products, Newegg has been super to deal with.
