New Drink Claims It Can Turn You On

CLEVELAND -- Chemistry is the lyrics to love, but what happens when you get in a rut and need a little boost -- could the answer come in a can?
On Your Side's Alicia Scicolone reported on a new drink that promises passion to anyone who takes a sip.
It looks like Kool-Aid and fizzes like pop, but a new drink called Turn On is certainly not for kids.

"Drinkers feel better physically, and more sensitive, and more ready for sex," said Turn On creator Howard Hersh.
Hersh said the idea isn't anything new.
"The public's appetite for sex enhancers has never been stronger," said Hersh.
MetroHealth Medical Center's Dr. Toni Love Johnson said there's a good reason for that.
"There are about 40 percent of women and 30 percent of men who have sexual dysfunction," said Johnson.
That's why people are flocking to anything that claims to have an aphrodisiac effect.
Psychologist Sherry Lehman says many couples are willing to try anything to get that fast fix.
"There's a lot of pressure to be a sex god or goddess, and when you look at all the magazines -- how to turn her on, how to turn him on, how to turn yourself on -- I think it's more pressure than most of us can handle," said Lehman.
So why turn to Turn On? Hersh said a simple ingredient does the trick.
"Schizandra is a fruit that's a native to China and has been around for centuries and it's considered one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs in the world," said Hersh.
NewsChannel5 put the power of Turn On to the real test with some local couples.
Andy McKelvy and Kelly Rankin, and Kevin and Shea James, drank Turn On, and reported the results.
"I was really giddy, doing a lot of smiling. Rumor has it I was chasing him around and following him around the house," said Rankin.
But she also said, "About 20 minutes after that, I hit a brick wall -- a jarring headache and got almost upset to my stomach. It was just not a very good feeling at all."
McKelvy said that he felt, "A little bit of a rush for about 10 or 15 minutes, and after that, I hit a brick wall and it wore off very, very fast … no sexual arousal or anything like that, it was strictly just an energy high."
Tester Shea James said, "I can't say I felt the turn on bit about it. But I felt energetic, I had clear mind -- and then it goes away ... You start to feel it come down. All of the sudden I was sleepy, I was tired."
And Kevin James said, "I was sleepy. I was very lethargic. As far as the turn-on effect, that didn't happen ... so, by the time bedtime came around, I was kind of glad it didn't work."
Experts said the key to turning on the special person in your life isn't in a can -- it can be found through talking and communication, and having positive expectations with each other.
No studies so far show that the herbs in Turn On really do have a sex-enhancing effect, and right now the Food and Drug Administration does not regulate herbal products.
Hersh said the FDA did approve Turn On's ingredients.
