I got my new treadmill today
and paid a decent amount for it ..there was some minor assembly, and once it was all together-and I went to try it-I noticed that the deck does not raise or lower as it's supposed to with the incline buttons..the side arm latch, that is supposed to lock when you flip the deck up-is not even in alignment with the base latch on the side of the deck(the metal holes-pre factory drilled are WAYYY off), and there was a piece missing from the guts of the left arm where the screw goes through at the top..what a piece of crapola..I emailed the company but I'll have to call tomorrow..I hate it when I pay a good price for something and it turns out to be a reject. bleh http://www.iconfitness.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=11052&prrfnbr=910694&cgrfnbr=11306

If you don't get what you need, let me know, my very good friend works at Icon in the QA department, he may be able to help.

Thanks! I keep getting their answering system that puts me on hold-and then asked my number to call me back within 24 hours..we'll see what happens..in the meantime I'm dying for a run. *sulk*

in the meantime get your hat/gloves on and go outside for a run! it's a sunny, though slighty cool, day today. :P

i have a hard time not getting bored on machines. i'd much rather go outside for a jog.

:stupid: Plus, there's hot chicks at the park running...not that it matters to you guys. But it certainly motivates me. :)

Probably doesn't help you now, but Icon treadmills are not that great, especially the folding ones. (Sorry if you're already committed to it & can't return it - then ignore the rest of this post!)

If you're only using it occasionally (maybe once or twice a week), and you're walking or only running a short distance (5k or less), then you might be OK with a cheaper model (such as ProForm or another Icon brand).

If you want something quiet, solid, well built and able to last for more than a few years, then I'd say

1) don't get a folding model
2) stay away from the 'mall' brands - Proform, Nordictrack, Reebok, Healthrider, etc.
3) be prepared to spend about $900-1200 for an entry level machine

Have a look at http://treadmillscentral.com/engine/index.php?action=s_compare&cat=1 for a comparison of many different models - try the 'treadmill chooser' on the left side for some suggestions.

It probably motivates them, too. ;)

Well, I have been told I'm quite a catch. And why would my mom lie to me?

I was thinking more that they might be motivated to run the other way.... :heh:

I was wondering why you were so flattering with your compliment. I should've suspected otherwise. ;)

thanks for the info-it's being returned this weekend..when the guy from the company FINALLY CALLED ME (8pm tonight)..he was kind of an idiot-he told me to "take a picture" of the treadmill and send it to him..my response was-why? how is that going to help me here? I explained to him-in PERFECT english about the deck not rising and lowering and he could NOT for the life of him get a clue about what I was describing..when I told him I don't have a digital camera-he told me to go out and buy a disposable, take it to a one hour photo lab, and then scan the pix and email them to him..DUH! No thanks-I'd rather not spend one more dime on this than I have to-and sending pictures so that he can see what I've just described in perfect detail-it's like beating a dead horse-twice. Nickel as far as going outside and running-since I shattered the elbow and messed up the spine, I'm only allowed to "run" in a controlled setting..and jogging outside is completely out of the picture by doctors orders..indoor tracks, yes, treadmills yes, outside where there is more likelyhood of me hitting a patch of unevenground and plummetting to the pavement in a big heap is out of the question..don't forget-my arm still does not rotate as it should-I can only turn the hand palm side facing my body and no more- If I fall, I can't catch myself without doing more serious damage to the already compromised arm..I will know on April 9th if I'm going to have to have it surgically reset-it will be one year since the fall..my doctor pulled me out of therapy for the arm since I ended up getting a severe case of tendonitis and torn ligaments from it..he thought that perhaps the full motion would come back on it's own with everyday activities (which I can't DO because I can't turn my arm..!) Maybe I'll look at a new eliptical instead of replacing the treadmill.
