I sent in for my $75 off ATI Radeon X800 from Dell and they replied that it was void because I did not include the UPC... This is a LIE! It was in the envelope that I sent them! What do I do?

Welcome to Dell hell. Not to hijack this thread but if anyone has a phone number to Dell's corporate office (I am too angry to write a letter right now) please, please post it. I called what was listed as the corporate number and it's the usual recording to Dell hell.

If you kept copies of the submission, will they accept it as evidence? (This is one reason I always keep copies of everything I submit with rebates.)
My X800 rebate got processed without any problems.

This happened to me on a $50 rebate for an SMC Router a bought a couple years ago. I had stapled it repeatedly to the rebate submission form and there was no way that it could have come off unless they tore it off. Load of crap. It was the one time I was lazy and didn't photo copy my paperwork. Needless to say, I now make copies of everything before I send it in...
On a side note, what would keep a company from doing this "losing" on purpose? There is no watchdog to make sure this is all handled on the up and up. I mean, they already count on half of the people not sending them in, why not cut the other half down by "accidentally" losing something and then seeing which of the customers actually made copies. Another hoop to jump through and thus more money kept in house.

If you kept copies you can force them to pay out anyways. :)

There should be a contact number...call it and ask them for the fax number to fax them the copy of your full submission which included the UPC. (Its why I always try to make it on 1 sheet of paper) When 1 part is missing but everything else was there, they are supposed to give you a chance to cure and that is what most of the "denial letters" actually say.
Just make sure you emphatically state that it was included in the envelope and they have it. Chances are the envelope is long gone and probably your UPC too. If they wont give you a fax number, ask for the manager and tell them yet again that EVERYTHING was submitted. If the UPC wasnt stapled or clipped to the main page, tell them that. The manager should theoretically be smarter and thus more open to help you. If the manager still balks, bring up filing a complaint with the BBB.

Nothing is stopping them from losing the info on purpose.
I actually read once about a marketing brochure from a major rebate fulfillment house. They quoted how low their fullfilment rates were, and stated something along of the lines of "if you go with any other rebate fullfillment house, expect to pay out 20% more".
EDIT: Found the actual quote:
One processor, TCA Fulfillment Services in New Rochelle, N.Y., published a "Rebate Redemption Guide" for its corporate customers several years ago. It cited the low redemption rates that companies could expect after hiring TCA: just 10% for a $10 rebate on a $100 product, and just 35% for a $50 rebate on a $200 product. "If you are using another fulfillment company, add 20% to these redemption rates," says the chart.

I actually got the information from this website on Dell laptop deals for the Inspirion, $499.00 plus $50.00 rebate. I did everything the form requested including sending in the packing slip and was told that the rebate was not valid. So either gotapex got the deal wrong or I was screwed by Dell...or both.

Heh.. maybe they found the UPC on the floor after it dropped out of your submission envelope, and didn't wanna eat crow in apologizing to you for the original rejection.
