Is this such a great deal? I see 1 GB of memory every day for less than $80 and no rebate required.

I figured since it was good quality RAM and 2x Gig sticks, that it looked like a decent deal to me.

I guess not maybe?

If you plan to overclock, this is nice memory to have at a nice price. If you only care that you can stick it in your machine and it shows more MBs, then better deals can be found easily.

Try pricing some performance memory. PC3200 with Timing 2-3-2-5 at $80/GB is a very good deal.

What kind of performance gain fom performance memory? I read somewhere that it's minimal, like 1% or 2%?

..this should be in another forum by now ;)

but the performance gain from 'performance memory' is like you said very small.
UNTIL you begin overclocking your system, at which point it makes a 50% difference (IMO) as to whether or not you will have to lower all the timings, or the main clock down to 166Mhz instead of the 200Mhz it's designed w/.
