Is there any way to run the Windows Explorer without having the C: drive all spread open? 90% of the time I run explorer to access other drives and having to fold the C: drive back everytime is a pain.

I believe you can set a setting in folder options that will tell windows to rememeber your previous window view settings.
I know there is something similar.. not sure offhand what exactly it is.
hopefully googling some of that may help out a little.

I always just type WindowKey/E to open Explorer. It opens with My Computer highlighted and exanded (i.e., all drive letters visible).

Or you can put a shortcut to whatever drive or folder you use the most on your desktop. Then just right click on that & choose explore & it'll open into that location.

cool. that worked. I always right clicked on the Start button to run explorer. I just realized that the "start menu" folder (which is in the C: drive) is highlighted that way. THat explains it.
I knew that shortcut, but obviously thought it would yield the same result. Never actually tried it. hehe. Thanks!

Another easy way to get to particular drives/folders in Explorer is to use (it's free) FastFolder by BB (www.dogkennels.net/fastfolder/). (Yeah, the guy's domain is dogkennels - programming is a side hobby for him.) FastFolder puts an icon in the system tray - left click on it to open Explorer to your preferred default drive or folder, right click on it for a (configurable) list of other drives/folders to select from. VERY handy.
