Without going into the details, I will just say that I had a horrible experience at the hotel I was staying in for the bar exam. It truly was a nightmare but all in all, I was there solely for the bar exam so long as I knocked that out of the park thats all that matters.

Yesterday, I received an email from Sheraton/Starwood Preferred guest program asking me about my stay at the hotel. I spent a while going through and listing all of the things that had gone wrong and honestly rating the hotel as I felt it warranted.....which frankly was unacceptable. I figured that I might get an apology letter or some "special offer" for a stay at a later time.

Sure enough, at 8:00am this morning my phone rang and as I looked and saw it was the hotel, I let it go to my voice mail system. When I listened to it I was amazed. It was the head manager for the hotel apologizing profusely for the "horrible experience" I had had at their hotel. The message then said she was going to credit my card for at least one night of the stay...I was there 2 nights. I guess it was really worth my time to tell them the facts this time.

When I was in Colorado I took my granddaughter to Sears to get her pic taken. While the pics came out great , I was pissed because we were there for 2 hours. There was only 1 person working, so she spent the time she should have been taking pics running back and forth answering the phone, helping walkup customers etc. I called their customer service line and complained. I received a certificate for 3 free sheets of pics for next time AND $5 off my next order. It always pays to complain if you are unhappy especially if its a big company. Some companies do still believe in customer service.

No offense, UF . . . but you pop up a heck of a lot in SS/NSS . . . typically on the SS side . . . :P

You complain A LOT :P

And you're probably quite good at it with companies given that you're a lawyer :P

STOP!

Don't **** it up for the rest of us!

When WE really have an issue to discuss with these folks, we want them to be able to respond and not have the budget they would have put towards such things completely depleted by people like you who like - and are good at - complaining!

*edited* - removed the "personal comment";

I have no idea where the hell you are getting this idea but you really should look (and think) before you speak as it generally makes you look like less of an arse.

Butch - du bist eine grosse aschloch. Given that you are in Deutschland, I will assume that you can understand deutsch. And no, my gender usage was not a mistake if you get my meaning!

I'm a bit surprised at you. Name calling is name calling regardless of whether it is in English or a foreign language.

Perhaps you should re-read the post and sprinkle it with a little salt.

However, for the record, I have looked . . . and it's been well-documented that you are hands down the king of the SS posts on G|A? :P :king: . . . can we maybe get a special rank for UF??

Can't argue with the record . . . 159 threads started in SS/NSS forum (of those, I count about 115 that are CLEARLY SS) . . . not to mention there are a bunch more that are combined SS/NSS . . . didn't count those suckages . . . nor did I count the times when you posted a NSS thread in which the NSS was claiming victory from when you complained (such as this thread).

This is out of 672 threads started for ya . . . 115/672 = 17% of all threads you've started are clearly SUCKAGE.

Now, I have no means to go through and do the same analysis for everyone, but I think that puts you at the head of the class! :P

Looked at from another perspective, there are 2,859 threads in SS/NSS. You have accounted for 5.5% of all threads in the forum. If we assume that there is overall an even split of SS and NSS in the forum, and you have accounted for 115 of the SS threads, this means you have accounted for 8% of the SS threads.

Compare this to your percentage of overall threadstarts on G|A . . . 90,907 threads on G|A by my count right now . . . 672/90907 = 0.7% of all G|A thread starts . . . you overindex by 11x on starting SS threads vs. threads in general.

To add to this . . . DF, the undisputed king of G|A posting has only started 98 threads in the past 2 years (Data isn't available beyond 2 years for him). You've started more SS threads (albeit over a longer horizon) than DF has started of all threads in the past 2 years!

If your SS thread-starting percentage were projected out to G|A as a whole, you would have 7,272 thread starts!

I've wasted too much time on this, but it was kind of fun . . . heh :heh:

i like reading how uf fights back when "the man" does him wrong. if only all of us had the ambition to fight for some of the crap companies/people get away with on a daily basis these kinds of things might cease or at least hasten.

:stupid:

I complain when I don't like something...I don't think twice about filling out a complaint card if I don't like something. It's my right as a consumer.

I've also obtained favorable results to several companies when i put my displeasure of their business in writing to their main office. Some companies truly want to hear about this so that they can correct it... because they know that they aren't the only place we can spend our money and if they want return visits, they'd better come correct... or we'll spread the word on how SUCKY they are.

Of course others probably couldn't give 2 flat turds ... ** cough ** FURD ** cough ** :heh:

Yep, I've gotten $65 in dinner credits from a steakhouse chain because I complained about a bad experience when I was travelling on business.

I've had several bottles of a particular salad dressing go bad during normal storage (bottles swell up as if they were carbonated). I called their tollfree number, and got coupons for free dressing.

There are some companies that take customer complaints seriously.

I have deleted the offending remark and will even go so far as to call attention to that deletion by this post.

I will even apologize for calling him that and wont make any excuses as to the validity or necessity of my remarks.

As for Butch's "investigation" - Give me a break...why dont you read what was written in the posts rather than assume what the posts are about, when you do that your comments make even less sense.

Good for you...if your service was terrible, you should speak up about it. It's nice to have the credit bonus even though it wasn't expected. :)

Wow . . . seriously . . . this thread and the response to what I said was not what I expected it would be.

I guess I figured after 5 years here people might give me the benefit of the doubt that I wasn't being malicious in comments I made where I tried to put some effort into showing that my comments weren't to be taken as dead serious . . . hence, the frequent use of ":P" smiley, etc . . .

So, whatever . . . of course, there is some element of truth in every joke . . . UF, I think you complain a ton, but big damn deal . . . I tried to show it in a rather lighthearted way with the statistics, which I do think are interesting.

Take it for what you will. I guess in a thread where I complain about someone who complains alot (and the irony is missed), I should expect some complaints. In any case, I'm sorry.

Have a good one.
