Congrats, so are you an actual realtor or just passed a real estate exam....i.e., sales person vs. broker? Either way its good. I bought a course for my brokers exam a long time ago but never bothered to finish it.....wasted money.

you have to be a salesperson or a broker in order to be a Realtor, but being a Realtor does not require an exam, FYI. Realtors belong to the National Association of Realtors and you must have active NAR membership in order to refer to or market yourself as such. Once you get any sort of license offered by your state you just pay your dues and, presto, you are a Realtor. There are folks who practice real estate without belonging to NAR.

I never knew that until I took my state's pre-licensing course recently.

Yes, I know that...which is why I was asking for clarification about Kim's post. If she just took the salesperson or broker examination by itself it doesnt make her a "Realtor". Apparently they are very protective about only NAR members calling themselves realtors. In the course work I had there were several places where they point blank stated that despite the fact that most laypeople think the term applies to all real estate sales people/brokers, you need to be careful.

I am in the process of joining NAR, so I'm almost legal, I guess.

Thanks for the congrats, I'm very excited!
