I hate basketball....
If you guys want to setup a pool where we all pay an entry fee of let's say $10, i could probably get one set up online by the end of the working day.
If we get enough interest, i'll throw it up.

I hate how I can't select different scenarios when I'm part of more than one group. I joined this one and a friends one and I'm sure a family one is coming too. I guess they do this for those competitions so one person can't create every possible combination.

I was hoping BC got upset eventhough I picked them to win their 1st round game.
Looks like Winthrop is hanging with Tenn.
I was watching that Winthrop and Tenn game. That last shot by Tenn. was pretty bad ass! Too bad that one chump from Winthrop panicked and just threw the ball with .4 seconds left, I think he could have at least tried.

I'm in pretty good shape so far. The only team I had advancing past the second round that lost today was Seton Hall.
Pools aside, yesterday was a great day in the tourney. Only a few blowouts and while only a few true upsets occured (A&M was actually favored to beat Cuse) the lower seeds really gave the big guns a run for their money.

Undergrad at UCLA and law school at George Mason - both teams advancing to the Sweet 16. Not a very bad showing for my schools...except that i hate GMU. I bet a large amount of money against them in both of their first two games...and lost both wagers. Now I have GMU beating Wichita St. in a 3-way parlay, 4-way parlay, and 5-way parlay...which means that GMU will almost certainly lose this next game.
I also had a long-standing small $20 bet on UCLA to win the tournament (one of the free bets that canbet.com grants to new sign-ups), and so far so good with that bet...
I often base my cheering on which team I detest least rather than which team I actually like.

I can't believe that in a tournament game, there was only 1 lead change, UCLA only led for 10 seconds of the total game...and UCLA still pulled the miracle from nowhere.
I do love seeing Morrison cry like a 6-year old with a skinned knee though. I never respected the guy's overly emotional displays. (If you ask me, the basketball has treated Morrison fairly well throughout his life...so why does the guy feel the need to assault the thing with his head?)

I was rooting for WV too. I was like yeah...WV can make the 3. Tie it up...play some D...go for OT and then let it rain 3's all day. WV I think is the only team that relies heavily on 3 pointers from everyone unlike Duke who just counts on Reddick.

Adam Morrison was spread out on the floor in tears while UCLA players danced in celebration around him. Great surprising finish for ucla. It reminded me of the last bruin run for a title... where dude went coast to coast.
Gonzaga will never forget that loss. I don't know if it was bad coaching or their star/team trying to not lose instead of playing to win... Maybe it was just fate. I did feel sorry for Morrison. Seems like he put his heart and soul into that game and was crushed. Hopefully he'll do well in the NBA.

So basically... I win my school bracket either way. WOot!
For me to win the G|A bracket, UCLA needs to go all the way. Otherwise, if LSU wins this next round, Zen wins no matter what due to George Mason and Florida being the non-picks that they are. Otherwise, if UCLA wins and loses in the final to either George Mason or Florida, it's yippiekiyeh at the top, and me second.
Go Bruins!
On an even more selfish and personal note: how is it that I've won all the brackets I've done in the past few years, and haven't bet a single dollar the entire time?

That UCLA game was excellent. Pac-10 gets hardly ANY love. If I could change my picks now, I'd go with UCLA taking it all the way, instead of losing in the finals :|. Hindsight is 20-20. Ugh
GO BRUINS!
I'm not sure what you consider excellent, but that was one of the most brutal, ugly games I have ever seen played. If Memphis were able to shoot a lick in that game, they would have run away with it. They just weren't hitting open shots and as a result you had the lowest scoring NCAA game since before the shot clock was instituted.
The Pac-10 doesn't get much love because most of their games are played after people are asleep and they don't have any teams that are consistently elite. Arizona would probably be the closest thing they have to a perennial power and they are very up and down. UCLA may be able to sustain success for a few years, but that all depends on if they have a mass exodus after this year.

It is excellent because it is a win.
It always amuses me when people say it's brutal, ugly, etc etc wins. No knock on you VTGREG, a win is a win. Memphis goes home, and UCLA goes on.

Yes it is a win, but it was not an excellent game. It was a game where poor offensive execution was the common thread. It's just disappointing to see two teams play at such a low level when so much is on the line. Unless I have a rooting interest in the game, I want to see a good game played at a high level. That was not the case in this game.
I'm not bashing anyone for rooting for a team. If your team wins, congrats, I understand you are excited.

I've never liked Florida in general or the University of Florida specifically, but I'll be glad to watch them get destroyed on a national stage tomorrow. Florida has hardly any dimenion to thei game, and they're going to have a very hard time when UCLA freezes Noah...just as they have done with Big Baby and Morrison. I'm rather glad I dropped a $20 bet on UCLA to win the Championship a while back.

How long ago did you make that bet? I hope it was in Vegas cuz that could be worth a lot if they pull it out.
I didn't think Ucla had a chance until they beat the zags. The last few minutes of that game has defined how they now play all their games. It's pretty impressive imo and is the reason all those high scoring teams lost.
Also it's good to see bruin fans wearing their Ucla gear again and having some pride in their program. ;)

UCLA's run ends tonight. They beat a young, overmatched team Saturday night, but UF has much better balance on offense, something UCLA has not been matched up against since the Gonzaga game.
This game is all about tempo. UCLA will not win if UF scores 80+ points tonight and UF will not win if the game is played in the 50's.

Good take on the tempo of the game - I agree. I think FLA will win it but who knows. :)

Yeah, at this point I don't know if anyone can pick anything with any certainty. Having as little knowledge of basketball as possible was the prerequisite for doing well picking this year's brackets.

Well, as a 'Canes fan, I find it difficult to root for the Gators. But as a Floridian, I'd like to prove that our state is vastly superior to you left coasters. So with that in mind (and just for tonight...),

So far so good. Unless UCLA can hold UF without a FG for about 6-8 min in the second half, this thing is over. UCLA doesn't have the fire power to win this game with UF on its current pace and UF won't give this game away the Gonzaga did.
On another note, Dick Enberg should be put out of his misery. He doesn't add anything to sports commentating anymore and seems to stumble over his tongue more often then not.

The UCONN-GT championship game matchup 2 years ago was pretty bad, but I am also having trouble remembering a final four that was as bad as this.
I think that's what you get when all of the upsets continue to occur through the tourney. All of the teams that make it to the NCAA's are capable of going on a run, but I think the biggest thing that separates the top teams from the next tier is the consistency and typically the middle tier teams that make a run are going to play a bad game eventually.
UCLA, LSU and GMU were all middle tier teams that went on runs at the end of the season. UF was the only team that was very highly ranked through much of the season and that fact was fairly evident over the last two games.
