There is a photo site called DP Review and they run weekly photo challenges. They usually have two themes so you can pick one and pictures entered have to be taken that week. I enter someitmes (depending on if I get a photo on topic) and last week (ended Wednesday) the theme was the afterlife. This was my submission. Some people left comments saying they liked it, others said it would have been better without the fence or that the fence was slanted. I liked that the fence leans, the slight diagonal helps to draw you towards the top and has implied motion upwards. The cross portion rises above the rest of the fence, showing rising above the rest and the palm tree is the symbol of paradise. The sun just peeking behind the cross is also symbolic of heaven. Going towards the light. I was not sure if I went too purple with it. Voters rate the pictures on a scale of one to ten with ten perfect. I averaged out to a 5.3 on this one. Slightly above average. I thought it would do better. Some just sunset pictures did better. The site does have extremely high quality pictures and it is not easy to get the high scores. The picture was taken in the old cemetary at Old Town. The pictures you already saw of the "til Death Do Us Part" and "Job Worst Than Death" were others I considered entering and was why the dead people images this week.
