A return to one of my favorite spots for scenic pictures. The area known locally as Wind and Sea is just south of La Jolla and is very popular with surfers. Parking is basically on- street so most of the people around are locals and it isn't usually very crowed. I love the mixture of worn rocks with green moss or whatever growing on them and sandy beaches. Then toss in a little glow as the sun goes down and they come out colorful and dramatic. I would have taken more pictures, but I forgot to make sure my battery was fully charged and I left my spare at home (remember this for next time kiddies!), but still got a few nice shots. A little later I watched the sun finish going down at Pacific Beach where I was treated to the Green Flash. It is only the second time I have seen it. For those who do not know, the green flash occurs as the last bit of the sun disappears below the horizon due to the bending of light by the atmosphere. It is most easliy seen over water on a clear night. We often have hazy skies at sunset- especially during the summer.
