Hmmm, a 6000 watt, 369lb subwoofer in the back of the car? I guess that's a good idea.

With that much weight, even after you buy it you'll be paying for it every mile you drive.

So I thought this was a little bit overboard. Good find.. but a 6000W sub with 12,000W peak... come on...
Well, obviously, you cannot run that much power off a battery. (for any sustained amount of time)
So I got to thinking.... 12,000W, off a battery, that'd be asking 1000Amps (OMFG!)
so, 500Amps for the 6,000W version
But then again.. damn.. a sustained draw of 500Amps!?!? come on... Well I looked it up..
Here's some cool, random specs....
Performance Alternator for a 04 Silverado (8.1L engine):
12V-145Amps @ 800rpm/idle
12V-275Amps @ Driving rpms
And to round off my randomness:
A Dodge Viper SRT-10 (500hp 8.3L) comes with a 136Amp @ high-rpm alternator heh.
Oh yeah... I read somewhere that you can buy 400Amp alternators for Firetrucks

these will probably run off of second and third auxillary batteries (not necessarily connected to the alternator - remember this thing is incredibly frivolous).

One of the few shows in English here that is on regularly is Pimp My Ride . . . there was an episode where they put one of these in somebody's car. They claimed it was the first such installation.
In order to fit it in, they had to remove the guy's back seat. They also installed a decibel meter to give him a warning when it was getting a bit too loud and crazy ;)

Umm... did you actually watch the video?
They used 3 marine deep cycle batteries and six capacitors to power that monster.

I'd only need one. :thumb:
But seriously, I wouldn't waste the bed space for that monster speaker. I haven't "got it like that" yet.
But after hitting the lottery... who knows. :D
Thumpin' to a neigborhood near you.... I'M RIYATCH BEEEEYATCH!!!! :kaching:
