When I was making some wedding music CD's for our wedding, I had a lot of Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Nat King Cole - everyone can appreciate the classics.
My mother danced with her new hubby to "At Last" by Etta James. We danced to "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Crocker, but that's cuz it's "our song" - it was a bit difficult to dance too.
For the Ceremony, I LOVE the song "The Prayer", sung by Charlotte Church & Josh Groban (there's also a version with Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli).
The best thing though would be songs are meaningful to the couple. Graf and I are in the habit of singing verses of songs to each other (yes, we're goopy newlyweds!), so a lot of these made it into the wedding somehow. We also put in a South African wedding song, which was later used on our wedding DVD. Regardless of if it's a love song or not, the best songs for their wedding are the ones that mean something to them. Some songs my friends have had: "Linus & Lucy" from Charlie Brown, "Hey Hey We're the Monkeys", and "I'm a Believer" by Smashmouth.

Some friends were married at Disneyland and their first dance was to "A Whole New World". A bit hokey, but tender.
I agree with Avlena, the best songs are the ones that are meaningful to the couple.
