Wasn't Buck a Hee Haw staple? Seems like I used to see him on that at the grandparents' house. R.I.P. Buck

There was a lot more to Buck than Hee Haw.

Ray Charles scored a No. 6 pop hit in 1966 with (Buck Owens') "Crying Time." Charles' version of the song resulted in two Grammys -- for best R&B recording and best R&B solo vocal performance by a male.

If you grew up during the age of “Hee-Haw” like I did, you probably thought Buck Owens was a moderately talented hillbilly singer who somehow lucked into pseudo-stardom. I didn’t begin to appreciate him until I was much older; primarily due to Dwight Yoakam. His pre-”Hee-Haw” recordings are amazing. The man ranked right up there with Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard.

(Buck in fact was one of the people who helped make Merle Haggard a star.)

Agreed... however his "Hee Haw" days are probably what he is most remembered for. :D
