I don't have one, but it would probably help with water spots. Then agani, so does the Mr. Clean thingy, which uses a Pur water filter. The problem with it is that the polymer-based-soap, or whatever it is that you have to use with it to make it work well is known to strip wax. It's great if you're going to wax the car, but crappy b/w washings.

It would probably also decrease water pressure a good bit. I know people use similar filters in laundry pipes, etc., so it may be worth the $$.

I use one, but for my drip irrigation system. Makes a huge difference on the wear/tear of the sprinklers. Never thought of using it for the truck (duh).

We use the Mr. Clean gizmo. The deionized water does dry without spots, though we still towel off the vehicles.

This unit is more complex, but it will probably deliver the same results. Our neighbors ran the outside spigot off of a line that feeds from the water softener. They swear by softened water for their car washes.

The CR Spotless (http://crspotless.com) one works. I'm sure there are others as well.
