Coca-Cola Blak | New Coffee Drink from Coke
It seems that the Coca-Cola Company is test marketing a new coffee/cola fusion beverage in both France and Phoenix, Arizona at the present time.
Coca-Cola Blak is being touted as "an invigorating and stimulating blend that has a perfect balance of the effervescent taste sensation of Coca-Cola and natural flavors, with real coffee."
Recently, Coca-Cola has been reaching out to new markets, and Coca-Cola Blak is a continuance of this trend, designed to appeal to adult consumers.
The beverage is said to have a rich, smooth texture, and has a coffee-like froth when poured. "This brand is ideal for any part of the day when people are looking for renewed energy or simply to take a break," said Marc Mathieu, vice president, Global Core Brands, The Coca-Cola Company.

Maybe so. Guess we'll have to wait until they start advertising it. I'm willing to give it a try.

in cokes "off-USA" plants, they enploy child labor. they don't have health care for injured (and non-injured mind you) employees. They have in thier policy not to buy products from (aluminum, sugar) companies that do child labor, yet they buy sugar from people who use child labor in their cane fields in elsalvador.

AI is a BS org... bummer about coke, i'll have to tell my mother in law, she loves coke, but she's a commie, so we'll see how she feels about this. If coke, doesn't employ child labor i don't see what the big deal is? We all buy stuff from china and we all know how bad that place is... Right Cheese? :D

here's how much of a coke connaisseur i am (this is sad) ... my mom (lives in stl area) prefers coke zero. i thought coke zero sucked compared to diet coke, and actually slightly preferred coke w/ splenda to diet coke. but then i changed my mind a couple of times... it was confusing... i'd think, how did i like this nasty crap over that type?
took me a while, but finally i realized that there was a big difference between the coke my mom brings with her to my house, and the coke i bought at my store. i'm in the chicago distribution area. stl and chicago have different water supplies. with stl water, coke zero is the clear winner, and coke with splenda is nasty as heck. with chicago water, coke zero kinda sucks and the other two are good.
wierd, huh?
Somewhere a Sobe marketing exec is shedding a tear

this will make that exec BAWL... due to budget constraints, i have temporarily discontinued my sobe habit until further notice... "further notice" being roughly equivalent to "prm's first real paycheck about mid-august" :P
water... sooooo not as good... but definitely about $1.50 cheaper per serving *sigh* ;)

So that's what Blak is. I'd seen it in the supermarket twice and had no clue what it was (at least on the packaging labelling here, there is no explanation). I kept meaning to look it up but never did.
Still a Diet Coke fiend from the early days of existence. Tried Diet Coke with Splenda but it tastes EXACTLY like Coke (blech x2). Though it might swing some Coke lovers to the 0-cal dark side.
Someone told me today Splenda is 70% chlorine. Anyone know if that's just crazy-people propaganda or if it's true?

my understanding is that coke has fully denied all of this.

Sucralose is made by substituting three Hydroxyl groups in sucrose with chlorine atoms. Not even close to 70% chlorine. Most of us drink chlorinated water, different form but we probably drink more water than aspartame. I tried Coke Blak and I am not enthralled. Kinda weird, not as good as coke nor as good as the Manhattan Coffee soda.

Any more reviews on it? I just saw it in a gas station the other day in NOLA after spending much to much money on gas I didn't have the cash in my wallet for both it and the coke I wanted, so I went with plain old Coke. I hate Diet/Zero/Anything made with anything artificial as a sweetener.

Nuh-a$$-tee.
I just bought and drank my very first Coke Blak and I'm really ticked. I wish it had been a sample that I tried instead of spending my hard earned money on it. I felt obligated to drink the whole bottle. :puke:
It's horrible. All eight darn ounces of it. :(

I found it a couple weeks ago at Marukai. I drink a lot of cola and coffee and I liked it a lot. The first few sips were weird, no question. After that it was great. It has less sugar than Coke but is still sweet. The 8oz bottle is 60 calories I think. IIRC it seemed less carbonated too.

Dunno 'bout the carbonation, but the calories in 8oz is 45. That's not so bad.

I still haven't tried it yet, but it is in New Orleans. I have tried "Vault" the new Coke-brand Sprite-like stuff with extra caffeine and other "energy" components. It's not bad, but not that good either. It does work for keeping you awake and working though, so if you're a Mountain Dew devotee (and I'm not) this may be a good idea.
I've always liked Starbucks Double-shots, though I hate ice coffee and I find it way too milky (I like STRAIGHT ESEPRESSO!) but I'll have to give Blak a try soon.

It does work for keeping you awake and working though,Venti Hammerhead. Biggest coffee they serve plus two shots of espresso for fun. Except sometimes after a few when I try to go to sleep I can feel my heart pounding like I ran up the stairs when I was really just sitting in front of the computer?

Heh...sounds good. As long as I drink it before 3PM or so. I like coffee...drink straight espresso, etc. Even now, at this coffee shop, I just got finished with a double espresso - no sugar or anything. I just get sick of ordering a "double espresso" and having people ask, "oh, you mean a dopio?" prounounced "Dough-pee-oh?" No accent, no nothing. Just an asinine way of correcting someone who may very well speak Italian, just to prove that their restaurant is "authentic." Doesn't stop at Starbucks either. Even "homegrown" coffee shops like CC's here in NOLA has converted. Annoys me.
