Wilson, NY (AP) - A student has been expelled from a high school in western New York for threatening to burn down the principal's house in a message he posted on the MySpace Web site.
According to students, parents and school officials, Wilson High School suspended then expelled the 16-year-old junior for the rest of the year.
Sandy Walch, president of the Parent Teacher Student Association, tells The Buffalo News, "They're sending a message that, if it happens, and they catch it, this is how they will respond."
The newspaper's search of the social-networking MySpace site this week found that 135 Wilson High School students have MySpace profiles, not counting users younger than 16.
The school did not refer the matter to the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, sheriff's investigator Daniel Brown said.

Why not just expel him for using Myspace? That's enough of a crime for me.
In honor of Myspace, it'd be cool if I could make my font an exceptionally ugly color, with a horrid background that makes the text impossible to read, while 4 videos play at the same time, huge .gifs sparkle all over the place, and some lame emo song plays in the background.

I'd expel him...it used to be that you could see that kind of thing as idle threats and just venting. Nowadays you can't take the chance.

We've argued in the past. But my hat is off to you IHAD, you put it as best as I could imagine it.
Heres another idea. Lets expel people for posting vulgar threats on forums. Lets also expel people for sharing disgusting vile videos to make others feel sick.
& people wonder why I stay away from the school system...
P.S. IHAD, mind if I use that MySpace rant as a Sig/quote? (credits to you)

Why? It's still just venting 99 percent of the time, as it always was. The odds didn't change. And how does expelling him make him NOT want to burn down the house?

guess this guy was just venting in an email too when he said he'd like to kill some strippers.
yet he's now suspended from college, the coach has resigned, and the whole team's season is down the sh*tter.
Duke lacrosse coach resigns; `repulsive' e-mail revealed
DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler resigned amid a team-related rape investigation Wednesday, the same day a judge released a player's e-mail that the university's president called "sickening and repulsive."
The school also canceled the rest of the nationally ranked team's season.
Police are looking into an exotic dancer's report that three members of the lacrosse team raped, sodomized and choked her March 13 during a party at an off-campus house.
A warrant unsealed by a Durham judge Wednesday asked to search team member Ryan McFadyen's dormitory room. A message, with contained several misspelled words, sent from McFadyen's university e-mail account mentioned hiring strippers and killing them.
"Tomorrow night, after tonights show, i've decided to have some strippers over," the message said, according to the March 27 affidavit requesting the search.
"All are welcome however there will be no nudity. i plan on killing the b----es as soon as the(y) walk in and proceding to cut their skin off."
The e-mail said the player would find the killing sexually gratifying. The e-mail was signed with McFadyen's jersey number - 41.
The Charlotte Observer could not independently verify whether McFadyen sent the e-mail, and it was unclear Wednesday whether the threat was serious or meant as a joke.
Lawyers for other lacrosse team members called the e-mail's language vile and inappropriate, but said the message reinforces the players' assertion that no sexual assault took place that evening.
Charlotte lawyer Pete Anderson, who's representing another of the team members, said he thinks it's unlikely a player would have sent such an e-mail if a sexual assault had occurred.
"If the allegations were true, what you would see is a fear of detection, not a cavalier and tasteless e-mail," he said.
He said the players were angry that they had paid $800 for dancers who performed less than 10 minutes.
"What motivated the comments is players not getting what they thought they were paying for," Anderson said.

Actually, that does sound like he was just venting. At least the people interviewed acknowledged that.

The article, with contained bad grammar, made the English language cry.

i guess my point was even if he were just venting or joking in an email there were repercussions.
