I am the King of all Klutzes....honestly, I am. I have broken more bones than a legion of people should and its not because I like to imitate evil kenevil. Nope, I just seem to have a knack for getting injured where no one else could.

Yesterday, I was in a hurry to leave my house and was walking through a somewhat narrow area between a coffee table and my industrial strength shredder when I somehow managed to smash my foot into the shredder. At first, I figured I just stubbed my toe but then I realized that the pain was getting more and more pronounced with each passing moment. I hopped my way to the couch and sat down and looked at my foot. It looked like it was ok but the pain was still growing in an unusual way and causing me to question what the hell I had done. My wife comes over and jokingly says, "You didnt break anything again, did you?" Given the amount of pain and the swelling that was beginning, I didnt know how to answer her...which immediately registers in her head that, yes, he probably did break something again.

I took it easy, using my crutches and keeping off the foot altogether to try and let my body determine whether it was just a bad sprain, bump, or a break. I even elevated the foot all night. This morning I wake up and look down at my toe and it was a lovely shade of black, blue, and purple. All over the inside area, across the top, and underneath. So with that discovery the verdict was officially in......yet another broken bone.

The doctor said I knew what to do, just tape it and keep an eye on it. Lovely.

Yea, as long as it's not the big toe, it's a waste getting doctors involved. They will just eat up several hundred dollars on x-rays, etc., then tape it to the toe next to it. By the way, a stretched out bit of cotton between the toes can make things a little more comfortable.

Sorry to hear about your toe troubles. Having foot pain is the worst. I am dealing with about of it myself right now. Just keep it elevated and ice if possible.

I actually broke my pinky toe pretty bad in december. Unlike you I ended up in a walking boot for 8 weeks.

Mine was pretty bad as I was walking with sweatpants on that were bagggy. My girlfriend stepped on the back of them and the front part wedge between my pinky toe and my other toe. So when I went to step the pants pulled my pinky toe way off to the side.

It just sucks because I was told 100days till it is completley healed. Good luck with taking it easy and staying off it.

well, looks like the title fits. . . :P

i hate doing things like that. you are walking along nonchalantly and you bang your hand on a cupboard or something, and it's like... that was so totally preventable.

I feel for ya. When my kids were sick, they would not sleep in bed..they would stay on the sofa and I'd have to be on the other end-holding their feet..wierd I know..anyway..my daughter jumped up in the middle of the night and ran to the bathroom to throw up-and of course, I jumped up to run after her to hold her long hair back so it wouldn't get puked on..when I did, I smashed my foot into the corner of the coffee table and did the same thing to my pinky toe..it was at a right angle to my foot..OMG I was seeing stars..somehow I ran to the bathroom, helped her, the proceeded to put my foot in the tub and turned on the icy cold water (I have no idea why!)..I pushed my toe back up into place, let out a scream and then the next morning, when I went to the E.R..it was definately badly broken. I was in a boot for 4 months..two weeks after I got the boot off..I smacked the toe into the leg of my bed (antique black brass) and rebroke it..It SUCKED. I think feet shouldn't have toes-well, not separated ones anyway..just a hinge at the top of the foot that moves like a flap!

It helps when your father is a doctor so I can double check things before going to see my actual doctor and wasting money.

LOL. That's funny. I could just add to your equation by saying...Mrs.UFC is a lawyer as well.

It would be nice if I was "ROLLIN'" in cash, but I am still paying for my education which cost more than a damn SL mercedes.
