So i was heading out to palm springs area for a class on my bike. Going about 85-90mph. The traffic got a little heavier so i started swerving back and forth in order to maintain my speed. Well unbeknowst to me a chp had come off a ramp behind me and was tailing me, having a hard time keeping up with me i guess...
anyways he finally gets up besides me, i hear the sirens(earplugs/windnoise) look back and he points at me to pull over: DAMNIT!! well i guess he'd been trying to catch me for awhile, said something about having to "box me in" or whatever... gave me a speeding ticket for 85 in a 70.... bummer didn't have my insurance on me at the time, i hope it's still valid...:thumbdown
funny thing though, whenever i'm late somewher i always tend to speed and end up getting a ticket... w/o fail... I'm so pissed off at myself. You're riding like a dick Andy take it easy... you'll get there eventually.. but noooo Andy has to frickin speed.
suckage.

Well if you do have insurance, wait for the rates to go up.

1 speeding ticket. I rarely get ticketed, although the last 2 times i've been pulled over have gone very poorly...

har nickel!! it's actually both my name is richard andrew, so dick andy fits... or maybe the reverse.:splat:

i'm over 25, not really worried about it, but i will do some sort of school... to get it off my record.
thanks for the sympathy, or empathy however your scorecards may be.

:heh: I got tagged during spring break on the PA Turnpike on my way to Indiana. The cop was nice enough, but he was hiding right behind a hill and I was speeding nearly alone on an empty stretch of road. My Passport 8500 x50 was of no help because he had no targets prior to me. Bah. At least I paid a little over half of what I would have to pay back in Cali.

I see a resemblance( i knew who you were referring to)... I was speeding though, i'll probably just end up owning up to it... The thing that pisses me off most about california is that everyone speeds atleast 10 over. So if the cops don't like what you're doing they just pull you over... doesn't matter what you were doing b/c they can always tag you for speeding... it's a little irritating. In this case i was switching lanes quickly to get through traffic... speeding is ok, whereas switching lanes....:nono:

I'm still getting used to a motorcycle so I'm trying not to speed, especially since I have no feel for seeing cops that are behind me when I'm on a bike. In doing that, I realized how difficult it is for someone on the road who doesn't want to speed. This is even more punctuated by a person on a vehicle that doesn't exactly intimidate folks based on size. Stupid SUV driving soccer moms...

take it easy champ, you're learning the right way... just make sure you don't have experienced friends who think you can instantly ride like them... Have an experienced rider tow you around sometime to get a feel for where you should be in the lane, speed, etc...
I had the pleasure of learning how to ride up in napa valley, and i can tell you I've seriously benefitted from learning to ride the curves and having experienced people show me the ropes.
I recommend a motorcycle instruction book too, maybe proficient motorcycling.
ride safe!!
