Anyone playing this? I heard of a couple of you guys playing City of Hereos. Recently found a free 14 day trial (no CC needed) to play this online. It's pretty fun...but I still don't know if I have the money to shell out the monthly fees.
We'll see when my 14 days are up.
Anyways, I play on the Freedom server as Kraaven, mutant stalker type.

Yup... I'm on City of Villians almost every night (From 10:00 pm - 1:00 am Eastern) on the Justice Server.
If you should happen to build an alt on Justice, you can look me up...
My mains on CoV are DarkLord Fury (Lvl 40 DM/DA Brute) and Roy Jones Jr (Lvl 40 EM/SR Stalker).
I have a few other alts, but those 2 are the ones I play most often on CoV.

$180/yr isn't exactly a few extra pennies a day. :D
That's a nice chunk of change...

Honestly, that's nothing others around here haven't done...
$15 per month for entertainment that keeps you occupied and keeps you from spending EVEN MORE money elsewhere seems like a good deal to me.

Go look at your cable bill.... and then come back and comment. ;)
$15 x 12 is sneeze money compared to $45+ x 12.
PC games are very cost effective if you look at it from that perspective.

Yep, it's going to be reasonable for monthly entertainment. $15 month is less than that cup of starbucks you drink every day.

yeah...when you're volunteering at a little private school and get a $350 stipend a month. you don't have much room to spend on stuff like this :)
but when the bucks roll in...I'll bring back cheesypuff!!! :)

I do understand... however, just keep in mind the example I laid out above.
If you spend more than $15 a month doing other "frivolous" things... (going to movies, bowling, concerts, buying CDs/DVDs, and other things.) then really $15 per month for online gaming entertainment doesn't really sound so bad considering the time it can keep you occupied and the fun you can derive from it. :D
But alas... we all do what we gotta. :thumb:

Heh.. I'm just waiting for Issue 7 to drop.
Currently my 2 40s are in a holding pattern... so pretty much I spend most of my time in Siren's Call PVPing with the City of Heroes folks.
MAN DO THEY HATE ME in Siren's call with my Stalker... there are times when it seems like all of them are chasing me down for the bounty on my head in that zone (plus it helps that I'm a "Super Reflexes" stalker... which prevents them from normally getting a good lock on me with their attacks. :heh: )

Anyone still play CoH? I just started and I'm looking for some G|Aers to play with!

Yup.. I'm still playing on the Justice Server :D
Mostly, I hang out in Siren's Call PVPing with the villians... look for the hero Ebony Scorpion (lvl 39 DM/Regen Scrapper) if you happen to be online in the near future.

Sounds like fun DF I'm thinking about checking out CoH/CoV. What's your suggestion, should I start with CoH first and then jump into CoV when I've gotten a feel to what I want to do?

COH and COV are basically 2 separate games (if you just want to play Villains, no real reason to buy COH).
Onto which one to buy?... its solely a "What do I want to be" decision. There are 7 basic classes in the game.
Shooter (long range)
Healers
Fighter (shortrange, monk/ranger types)
Assassins (shortrange, rogue/assassin type)
Tanks (shortrange, hit taker type)
Buffer (Usually longrange fighters that sometimes function as healers)
Controller (crowd control type characters).
Difference between COV and COH
1) Dedicated Pet User Class in COV (you get a minimum of 6 pets with that class (mastermind)
2) No actual Tank Class in COV (closest is the Brute, but their tanking skills are secondary. There inbetween the Tanker and Scrapper class of Cityofheroes (meaning there weaker than a tanker at tanking, but do more damage than a tanker does)
3) Controllers in COV are weaker than the ones in COH.
4) Assassins and Scrappers will have a harder time finding groups (cause there rogue type characters)
5) Corruptor is the healing type character (COV), at the same time, they are the blaster type character (so they do the most blaster damage, as well as being the main healing class). THe COH version are called Defenders, and they do less damage and are more dedicated to their buffs/healing.
6) Assassins (Stalkers in COV) get Hide as a primary skill (so they are usually invisible most of the time, this also has the benefit of giving them critical strikes when hidden and attacking). Scrappers (COH) inherrently get a chance to critical hit with any attack they have (no "hide then strike" needed).
Damage roundup... (Most damaging to least damaging)
Scrapper (coh)
Blaster (coh)
Stalker (cov)
Corruptor (cov)
Brute (cov)
Mastermind (cov)
Defender (coh)
Controller (coh)
Dominator (cov)
Tank (coh)
Both games are all pretty balanced, so go solely on whether you want to be a "Hero" or a "Villain".

Pretty much CoV is a polished up version of CoH... although CoH has more levels/mission (which might change with the upcoming "Issue 7" patch)
Right now it would be a toss up to decided which one to play first if you've never played before. Both are pretty time consuming and both have their up and down sides. Personally, I find it "fun" being "evil"... so I like CoV alot... however being a hero has it's perks as well.
Honestly you can't go wrong either way.
