View Full Version : Voice recorder recommendations?
I'm in the market for a good voice recorder. I want something that doesn't take tapes, has sound quality good enough for a semi-professional podcast, and can take a headset microphone. Anyone have any recommendations?
Oh, and if it could have a USB connection and just show up as a drive letter in XP that'd be great. I'd prefer to not have to use a dedicated proprietary app to retreive files from the recorder.

I have tried a couple throughout the last few years. The first one that I got was the Olympus DS-2000 Digital Video Recorder:

It has a removable compact flash card that you can pop into your card reader to save time if you like, or you can just plug it in via USB. If you plug it in via your card reader you can pull the voice files off drive.
I have gone through a couple of Sony Voice Recorders in the last year and now I have the Sony ICD-P28:

It only costs around $60, and records audio in .wav format. I can't remember if it pops up as a drive or not, but I can find out for you next week. But I know that the software that comes with it is very easy to use.
Hope that helps a bit.
