I'm looking at building a new computer. Anyone have suggetions on the motherboard brand. I'll probably be using the computer for some work(webpages and graphics), internet and email usuage, a little bit of gaming. I don't want to spend to much but i don't want to go cheap either. For the CPU I plan on using AMD. I was looking at Fry's with there combo packages but most of those are ECS motherboards and not to many people care for them.

Asus is the brand I trust as well...
I usually look for them online from ZipZoomFly.com or NewEgg.com.

NOT Gigabyte.
While I've have been frankly surprised at the performance of and configurability of my Gigabyte motherboard... after a recent motherboard failure (last week), I've been overly un-impressed with their customer support and policies.
A month turnaround time is excessive, especially when I'm willing to pay for it to be overnighted.
In fact, in terms of productivity lost, it's almost cheaper to just buy a new motherboard than to deal with their RMA policies...

DFI ans ASUS... Thought I had some really bad RMA with Asus, I luv their mobo's
Though ECS are cheap, They are rock stable and I never had a ECS mobo crap out on me... They are a little crappy with their connectors, design of their mobo but they are good too

Decided to go with the ASUS A8R-MVP. Now which AMD CPU should I get?

I would go with the AMD 64 X2's... You can probally get a skt 939 opteron such as a opteron 165 and really overclock...
