Hey Gang,
Got a couple Diablo2 questions: what exactly am I supposed to do with Wirt's leg, besides using it to lay a smack-down on some all-so deserving demon? I've been hanging onto it all the way through a normal level game, trying to find some poor sap to take it off my hands but so far...no takers.

Also: I've heard about this secret level, called the "Cow level" and I *think* (always a dangerous thing to do) that somehow it's related to poor Wirt's leg. Can anybody help me shed light on this issue. My thursday night gaming bunch thinks I'm a complete knucklehead for lugging around the stupid leg, but hey, it gives me pretty good stats against the undead, so I figger it aint a complete waste of time.

cheers!

the Horadric Cube and click transmute.. and it'll open up a portal to the cow level... the cows are pretty tough, make sure you're at least in the mid 30s (level) before attempting, and get some kick-ass armor and some a bad-ass weapon... then go kick some ass... =)

MOOO!

as far as I know, you need to put Wirt's leg and a tome of Town Portal in the cube to do it...

Thanks Chinpoko.
I went to the site, very useful, and did find all the...ahem...poop on the Cow Level. Can't wait.

you can also imbue wirt's leg if you're really getting bored...and then you have some really weird stuff going on there. I've seen a couple of rare wirt's legs, and they are pretty humorous. Imagine beating someone to death with a prosthetic limb that does lightning and poison damage while stealing life...and think about what it ouwld've done to the guy who would've worn it...

I'm not sure if this was posted on the site mentioned earlier, but there are differences in the cow level depending on what version of D2 you're running. I think once you apply the 1.03 patch, you can only visit the cow level once per difficulty level.

I'm glad the original poster asked the question, I wondered for a long time myself, and holding on to that leg. Problem is I try to imbue it within the Horadric's Cube alone, as well as with a scroll of town portal in it. Nothing has happened. I think it says "I cannot use that yet."

Any other tips, perhaps a place where it should be done or other circumstances?

Thanks guys-

I think you can't go to the cow level until you finish all the quests or defeat Diablo on the current difficulty level.

Everything I have be reading regarding the Cow Level has it that you *have* to beat the current level, then you can go to the Cow Level. AND: I have actually stopped carrying poor Wirt's prosthesis around, I have read that folks have been going back to Tristram, grabbing the leg again, and then teleporting off to the Land of Moos! Apparently the Cow Level is pretty difficult, one post had a guy who laughed himself to death, literally, when he was chuckling so hard he forgot to defend himself against the bovine attack. Seriously, all posts I read have the Cow Level being fairly hard to impossible.

Actually, in order to access the cow level you must follow this procedure: (v1.03)
1. Defeat Diablo
2. Play the level you defeated diablo on (normal, nightmare, or hell)
3. Grab Wort's leg and a TOME of Town Portal
4. Go to the Rogue encampment and use the horadric cube to combine wort's leg and the Tome of Town Portal
5. Red portal opens up to Cow level.

The cow level is pretty hard, even on the normal level, but I was able to clear it using a level 27 barbarian. The trick is to move real slow so that you only attract one or two cows at a time. It may take a awhile, but it is worth it. (This was done on Single player mode as well, without cheats)

Out of curiousity, what happens when you beat Diablo on Hell difficulty? Is it just the title (Duke, or whatever), or is there something cooler?

Beating Big D on Hell difficulty is the same as the other difficulties. You get the title of Baron and maybe a rare, unique, or two.
