If you're looking for something inexpensive try ebay or radioshack. For a pci card I recommend the tethered antenna type where you can move your antenna out from behind your comp.

Cantennas are best for long distance point to point, like if you want to hook up wireless between two houses that are down the street from each other.

I built a cantenna for myself and it works very well. You can buy them from compusa or get them cheap on ebay.

you might have to hack a hole in your laptop for the antenna line
