That's what Scott & I figured out when he was just getting into bed and I was winding up stuff online to head there myself last night.

No squealing tires, nothing. Just BANG!

He came down and went outside to look, then I went out. Turns out:

"Car crashes into bedroom; wakes up teen

Sixteen-year-old Mark Thompson had an unexpected wake-up this morning: a 2004 Acura crashed into his room while he was sleeping.

The car hit his bed about 2 a.m. and tossed Thompson against a wall in the room of his home in the 400 block of North Edgemoor. The car plowed through Thompson's room, into his mother's room and then ended up in the backyard of their home.

Thompson suffered minor injuries. His mother wasn't in her room and wasn't hurt. The 26-year-old suspect was arrested and charges are pending."

That's right across the street from my house.

There'll be more details in Saturday's paper. Here's a pic (bad one) from my cell phone:

Are you in the background as a "concerned onlooker"?

:stupid: Though guns aren't necessarily political, I assumed that might be the case. One bang = transformer or backfire. 2+ bangs = seek cover.

Mark Thompson wasn't sure what had happened when he awoke to bright lights and a horrible crash early Friday morning.

Whatever it was, it plowed through the wall of his home on North Edgemoor, struck him and knocked him against a wall.

"It happened so fast, I thought maybe something blew up in my house," said Thompson, 16.

Only after he shook off the daze, stared through the holes in the walls and saw a silver 2004 Acura in his backyard did he realize what had happened.

"I stood there and I looked for a second, and I couldn't believe it," he said.

Thompson suffered only minor injuries from the 2 a.m. crash. The only other person in the house was his mother, Hercilia. She was in the living room and was not injured.

The suspect, a 26-year-old man, fled the scene but was caught soon after by police near Douglas and Oliver. Charges are pending, police said. The extent of his injuries was not known, according to police.

The Thompsons' house is on the east side of Edgemoor and faces Third Street, which ends at Edgemoor for eastbound motorists.

Apparently, the car went through the intersection, jumped the curb, missed a tree and crashed into the house. No skid marks were visible in the street or the Thompsons' front yard late Friday morning.
