If you look at the supported drives, they only support ancient burners ( up to 4X ). So if you have a newer burner, I don't believe this program will work.
Use DVDShrink and Nero Vision Express. It's cheaper!

Yeah, flashing the firmware on the drive should take care of any problems. I didn't see the link either, but would be surprised if they only supported < 4x.

If the version of 123 only supports certain drives, upgrading the firmware isn't going to help. I have an older version of DVDCreator which supports only 4X burners. It will only burn my 8X NEC at 4X.
One of the main reason for software upgrades for burning CDs and DVDs is to support newer burners.
