I got in on the Motorola V710 Class Action lawsuit deal, and I have to pick out a phone in the next week to have enough time to make the deadline mailing the old phone in. Here are my options:

BlackBerry 7130e (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=755)

Palm Treo tm 650 Smartphone (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=637)

The V (LG VX9800) (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=704)

Needs:
- Easy to use alphanumeric keyboard
- Calendar feature (bonus if it can sync with Outlook)
- Not too bulky
- Decent battery life
- File transfer capability! via Bluetooth, mini-SD, or cable

Nice to haves:
- Decent camera (prefer protected somehow so pocket lint doesn't get in it)
- Regular stereo headphone jack

Don't care:
- Online web browsing

The first two are $299 and the third is $149.

Only one I've seen on someone else is the VX9800 -- good pictures, but limited to none calendar/sync capability and the camera lense isn't protected. Easy to type on that thing, and not too large.

Anyone have good or bad experiences to share about any of these 3 phones?

The Palm.

I don't like the BlackBerry; I prefer a "two-thumber" (i.e., each letter having it's own key on the keypad).

Congrats on the new phone...

Looking at the first two, they seem to be data devices first, phones second (especially the Treo). I'm definitely looking for voice as a primary use...

I have the Treo 600. Skipped the 650 and can't wait until the 700p comes out. Good phone and great PDA.

I have the 650... it's great but BT is a bit iffy

Anyone have any suggestions for a BT headphone that's good?

Sounds like you may have answered your own question. The V might be the one you're looking for...

I didnt' have the best of luck with the treo's. The different ones I used often had the same problems: display doesn't respond to touch, call hangs up after connecting if you have it on speaker, lack of signal in normal coverage area, that horrendous blinking light when you're trying to sleep...

It's also very difficult to use while driving. While I have no problems dialing a traditional cell phone in the car, I struggled with the treo because the buttons are so small.
